Forums - General - Who wins Eurovision gets famous?

You're right. But i think people that goes to Eurovision are more interested in representing their country. You may not have a ABBA or Celine Dion like fame, but at least a good fame at your country. Dana International nowdays is the most important israeli singer.

And you always can be the next Celine Dion!

Well, here in germany almost no established musician wants to participate, because the backlash for a bad place is pretty ugly ^^ and those who tried in the last decades killed their own chances with really shitty performances.

I think the only ones that really are proud to represent their countries are the eastern european artists, which is why they tend to score better.

An ABBA or Celine like talent is very rare.

But any music in Germany got famous because the contest? It's kind strange to a show that is supposed to be as big as EuroCup can't create stars anymore.

All the eastern euro countries vote for each other. FIXED.

I still like England's entry, I think in 2007? With the flight attendants, lmaaaooo

Everyone needs to play Lost Odyssey! Any opposition to this and I will have to just say, "If it's a fight you want, you got it!"

ah, Eurovision, the pointless display of England's failure that comes around every year, we always put up talentless morons, and watch the East Euro block rig it again.

the ESC is way less rigged now than in the decades before televoting was introduced and england and ireland were the ones who profited from the faulty system before, so don't whine plz

the reason the eastern european countries did well in the last years is because they actually take it seriously .. contrary to the popular rig myth the votes from western and eastern europe have almost the same results (turkey is always higher in western europe)

@ invetedlotus )

From my experience the less well known artists from germany that participate in the ESC tend to become pretty famous locally and it isn't rare that it lasts for several years.

I want UK to pull out personally ...

because you are a bad loser or because it shows how lowly you guys think of europe? the last british entries totally deserved to fail epically

edit: just listened to this years entry and .. it's a bomb again - at least it's not as annoying as in some of the years before

come on, we all know, that "brits got talent" (although not much in that show apart from PP), so why don't you guys send a real artist?

Neither, we put crap acts through and won't ever get number 1 again, id rather we funded something else. Than and eurovision is a complete embarssment, as if anyone listens to that kind of music anymore 0_o

It costs the BBC less money to put on Eurovision for that one night then it does for all it's normal programs on any other Saturday night programs.

Last year we came 5th, a very good entrance. This year is written by Pete Waterman so it's a fail even off the bat. Most of our nation don't care because of our entries that they selected failing badly. Andrew Lloyd Webber came and got us a 5th.

I like Eurovision, it may not be the best most well produced programming but it's fun and far from fixed. Yes a few former Soviet countries have won but in recent years so have Norway, Greece, Finland and Turkey, more Scandanvian countries have won it the former Soviet contries. And Russian won it, most East European countries and citizen's don't even like Russia. Of course the guy singing for Russian was already a big celebrity.

A lot of entries for contries that are not our own are already well known artists and Eurovision is seem as a good thing to be in, nowawdays we see X-factor as a good thing to be in...*shudders*

Hmm, pie.
