Forums - General - Who wins Eurovision gets famous?

I mean, I only know ABBA,Celine Dion and Nana Mouskouri that were able to turn in mega celebrities after winning. It looks like the eurovision singers are only able to releases one or two albums and have moderated success. It's a shame, I really would like to Yohanna to have an international career and to see if Alexander Rybek will be able to last more than one year in the market.

Eurovision is a competition to make East Europe feel proud about something.

It's a totally unfair competition that leeches the people of their $$

But anyway, do people really watch it? I read that eurovision in some countries have the same popularity as EuroCup.

They do, but it's not as popular anymore here in Belgium.

Normally they chose the one who's going to represent our country in a television contest(with votes from the people at home ofc), but now they chose one behind the doors.

People also say that the Azerbaijan singer bought her place at Eurovision. Anyway Samus, how Alexander Rybak career is going? Do people still talking about him?

Eurovision is a joke. The voting system is purely political and has nothing to do with whether a particular act can sing or not.

Never even heard of the guy lol.

I always enjoy the eurovision, especially the votings. (I don't share any of the bitterness of the other people in this thread)

You can't expect the winners to become famous all over europe.. I assume Alexander Rybak is last years winner ? I haven't heard of him since and I didn't think of his song as anything special either.

Anyway, he have became a superstar at Norway at least. The hell, if i was a singer i would never want to participate of this, it looks to curse the contesters careers! I would prefer to try british X Factor instead.

you'd try a casting show? afaik that's pretty much a surefire way to become a penniless c-star with the kind of contracts you are forced to sign in order to participate till the end
