Forums - Microsoft - Project Natal still has a multi-processor that runs the software!

Argh! I suggest all Natal speculation be tabled until E3. Can we wait a month or two before we continue speculation?

I'm trying, but I kept getting drawn in!! Help!

wasn't the processor removal the reason why the price was speculated to drop? Has something changed?

People SPECULATED that the processer was removed, and it was never confirmed, so until we see the specs for E3...we are all in the dark.

Natal is a joke.

Can you at least try to be more constructive.

Technically, this piece contains very little info.

  1. the chip that was once rumored to be included in the natal hardware and later dropped was a CPU running the software to analyze the 3d maps and build the skeleton models / aid the most taxing voice and face processing. Once dropped, the same software would have to run directly on the receiving end (PC or 360)
  2. this is in addition to other chips that have to perform signal processing from the cameras - to build the depth maps - and data stream control (think simple DSP and southbridge of a motherboard rather than CPU) and that are detailed in the original specs.

This article adds nothing to the notion of which chips are being talked of. Thus, it might be just simpler to wait for the final specs in a few weeks than to endlessly speculate about not-so-technical presentations.

i dont understand what people are expecting from natal , you will still have hd visuals , you will still be able to move your body in front of the camera.

i think many people that are hyping this expect some types of hardcore games , natal will be a very casual/party heavy experience nothing else and you dont need powerful processors to run simple games , even in the very exaggerated e3 campaigns you never once see a complex game nor have we heard or seen anything else since, no talks about implementing it with existing hardcore titles because the software is going to be fully natal exclusive and mark my words the few "hardcore" titles will be very simplified genres.

im not saying the games will suck im sure they will be fun but dont expect any multiplats using natal tech unless the controls suit the hardware

If microsoft reps say it doesnt have a feature ( a processor), and some random blog says it does. I believe microsoft reps.

Its more likely that this processor has always been present and the processor that was dropped was a more expensive one.  I would imagine this could be a processor just dedicated to sending the data from the various inputs to the 360 in a timely manner rather than doing the processing itself, we'll not know though until we get confirmation at E3 I guess.

I guess its a non issue in terms of we cannot say much more but it is actually some different news.

if this one was never dropped then whay would they say it still has it.its talk should never arise

When the rumour arose regarding the price it was speculated they dropped the processing chip inside Natal to cut costs, until we hear more at E3 we don't know if they did ever drop it or not.

YEAH that seems to be the case.e3 only 59 days far
