Here is Novel's response. My guess is tools like MonoTouch are unaffected.

My guess is what Apple is trying to stop, are tools that do not use Apples APIs. So for example, a button needs to be a button from Apples UI tool set, and not a button from Flash's tool set.

I can understand that, and see why Apple wants to control that sort of thing.

I am a developer, and thinking about making an App, so it matters to me. I most likely will use MonoTouch, as C# I know very well. Objective-C I would need to learn a little better (I have written a program in it, but man is it different).

Some things I have grown to love, is stuff like memory management. In C#, I never have to think about it. In Objective C, I need to keep track of that stuff myself.

Tools like MonoTouch are awesome. Losing them, would be a big blow to developers, and would just make me not write an app, as apposed to learning Objective-C.

Lol you're saying Apple are acting like children but you spell "like" wrong in the thread title. If you're going to insult someone don't make mistakes of you're own.

On topic: I already hate Apple so you're preaching to the choir on this one. No way I'm dropping $500 on an enlarged iTouch (aka iPad) or buying an iPhone.

Thats the dumbest thing I have heard.....how does a simple spelling mistake correlate with one's maturity level?...Ill tell you....they dont

It has nothing to do with his maturity level, its just how he's going around saying how bad apple is, yet he makes an error of his own in the thread title. I know its not a big deal; but if you go around saying how bad a company is and you can't even proofread your own writing it doesn't say much about you.

If this was a normal thread (not insulting a company/person) I wouldn't care less about errors.

You mean "would care less"

Please try and proof read your stuff when you are insulting someone.

Yes I did mean I would care less, and it was a nice try using my own statement against me but it didn't quite work out since I wasn't insulting anyone. Simply pointing out a mistake isn't insulting someone.

Sorry it's a little late, apparently poitining out mods are wrong gets you banned on tis site.

As for you, if you are gonna be making fun of people's typos, I suggest you learn some basic english first, specifically the use of "your" and "you're." I tink they teach it in 9th grade in the US.

OT: This has gotten much more interesting between Adobe and Apple over the past week. Apple is adamant about it and that's that. I personally have used a lot of C, and its variants, in the past and while this wouldn't be a problem, I'd be majorly pissed because then I won't be able to just stick my code on an android or samsung or palm phones. This may end up biting Apple in the ass since android has been selling faster than the iphone.

Android is gaining market share, but not selling more phones. In Q1 of this year, Apple sold 8.7 million, while Android sold 5.4 million.

Anyway....

Again, I agree if the purpose of Apple is that when someone presses on a button in an iPhone app, that they want the Apple button to be the one that's pressed.

There are great reasons to want to keep that the case. But...

If two pieces of source code were to come across Apples Approval system, both identical text, and one gets approved while the other one does not, just based on how the user generated that source code, then I have a serious problem with Apple.

Ah, I was looking at some older stats that mentioned that android phones were selling faster. My fault for not keeping up to date with those.

I am not quite clear on who this whole things works as mentioned, but if it does indeed operate the way you lined it out, I'd have a lot more of a reason to complain about Apple. I know Adobe's flash compiler did something similar, but it also had its own code and everything as well. I need to actually read through the agreement and I haven't run into it, thuogh I'm sure it's public.

Also, did you see the new iPhone 4G that gizmodo got its hand on yesterday? They are changing the form completely! I liek it a little more noe because of all the extra buttons they say it has.

Yea. I saw the phone.

I am sure the phone is from Apple, and the screen and internals are the same that will launch, but there is a good chance that the form factor is not what the final product will look like.

All the buttons are round, and the device itself has all flat surfaces. This means it's very easy to machine. Most likely the package is just a container to hold all the parts, and not the production design. You don't want to spend a ton of money on the package if your not sure what's going in it.

I do like how it looks, but my guess is it will look a little different. If it looks the same though, then great!

P.S. I will be selling my iPhone and not replacing it, as I will have an iPad 3G + high end camera. So, I will get a cheep phone and save the $500 a year AT&T wants to take from me :). My wife loves her iPhone however, so we might get one of these for her.
