I fully agree with Kowenicki here. There are a dozen reasons Apple wouldn't merge with Sony, and it has nothing to do with Sony hate. A company as successful as Apple shouldn't merge with anyone.

This, when you are doing well, you don't want to do anything that can fuck it up.

I agree. Theres no reason for Apple to do this.
However the fact that they could is amazing. They have around 40 billion in the bank and growing.
I would like to see a giant videogame merger again I don't care if it is Sony Apple Nintendo Sega or what I just want something to shake things up..

Really? You're actually eager for more consolidation?
I'd really rather that the videogame sector didn't go down the road of distilling into a Big Five oligopoly like every other media sector already has. It usually results in a bunch of lazy incumbent content owners manipulating laws and the market to the detriment of both content creators and consumers. They become so focused on milking the existing model that they stonewall any emerging, potentially superior model until their own inflexibility destroys them.
Give me more, smaller companies, so that they have to rely on the creation of value to make money, instead of relying on market control to generate profits. So they're agile enough to adapt to a changing market rather than being crushed under their own weight.

I think the market could either become less or more competitive with mergers. Ideally companies facing significant challenges would take more risks to regain a foothold however the opposite could easily occur.
