Obviously I wanna hear what upcoming games people are excited for. So, post some videos, pics, info, highlights, comments etc. I'll start. ;P
Dragon Nest - Release date: TBA 2011
I don't know what it is about this game, maybe the art style and gamplay style, but makes me think of Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time...well, if you added in some extra awsomeness, classes, multiplayer, and updated graphics. Which in every way seems good to me. :)
Any games? Well, that's actually quite a list. I'll just post the games I'm looking forward to the most.
Dragon Quest IX - After nearly 5 years in development and almost an extra year in waiting for us here in the western world, Dragon Quest IX is almost here. One of the biggest and most detailed games on the DS is arriving this June, and it looks to be just as good as all the other games in the series, if not better. With the return of the Skill system, party creation process and alchemy pot. Along with new improvements like active encounters replacing random encounters, items that change your characters apperance and weekly downloadable content via WiFi. Its no wonder Nintendo is jumping on board to publish this title in America.
Metroid: Other M - Its the return of Classic Metroid gameplay, but in a whole new way. Can this classic series finally produce the title series creator Sakamoto has been looking to achieve since the N64 days and provide the true fluid transition to 3D the series needs? All I can say is, each video they show sure is making me a believer. The fact that they're teaming up with Team Ninja of Ninja Gaiden/DOA fame just seals the deal for me.
Star Wars: The Old Republic - Now, I'm the last guy who gets into MMORPGs. In fact, for the last few years or so, I've had quite the vendetta against them. But then, that's because I've been burned by them over and over again. Ragnarok Online, Phantasy Star Online, Everquest, Maple Story, Star Wars Galaxies, you name it, they all ended up being the same thing, grind for exp and gear. However, this game is looking to change all that. Its focusing on a completely different mission. A duality on story and gameplay unprecedented in previous MMORPGs. 'EXP' is no longer the focus. Indeed, it is no longer even obtainable in the classic sense as you gain experience through alternate means such as interactions in dialogue and completing certain actions (such as killing certain people or NOT killing certain people). I feel this may just be the title MMOS needed after more than 15 years of stagnation and repetition. We will just have to wait and see.
Diablo III - After 10 years and countless hours of playing the original Diablo II, finally we're getting a sequel. And thankfully, it looks like Blizzard is not only keeping close to the style and feel of the previous Diablo games, but actually making some improvements where they're needed (such as fixing the overwhelming reliance on potions and gems in the original). But what I'm most interested in is the upcoming classes, and the new Monk class looks about as perfect as I could have asked for. Once again Blizzard creates the perfect class I've been asking for years for in an MMORPG and puts it instead in their Diablo franchise. Why can't more MMORPGs come up with great original classes like the Necromancer or Monk...
