wow isnt trying to be warcraft 4 , wow is a MMO , it has more content than any other game to date.

diablo 2 was great but in my eyes it doesnt even come close to the amount of dedication and goal creating wow has.

wow is the best game ever made and whats funny is alot of sites have come to terms about what a monster of a game it is , not just because of the massive online community but because you cant find that amount of stellar content in any other game ever , but sadly you will never know just how great that game is cause you never made it to cap and you never got to play with end game guild raids or end game pvp , you never played through those absolutely amazing boss battles or 5 man parties in regular end game instances or the amount of reward you feel when you kill illidan and he drops his epic blades LOL good times very good times.

oh well

I don't deny that WoW can be a good game, but as I said on my first posts, I just can't get into any MMO.

It's WoW's fault particulary, it's the lack of a motivator, to me, in the entire genre.

As for Diablo 2 not having the amount of dedication that WoW has, I shall have to disagree. The game has been going strong for the past 10 years, with the latest official patch being released just a couple of weeks ago, which majorly revamped the ladder in battle-net. If that's not dedication then what is it?

Also, there's a dedicated community that has been going around since Diablo 1 and will continue to hang out the day that Diablo 3 launches. Alas, the Diablo 3 announcement led to a major spike in the number of players on Diablo 2 once again. It was season 1 2003 all over again, a good nostalgic feeling.

As you say those things to me for WoW, I can probably say the same to you, as you've probably never played Diablo 2 to finally get that Hellfire Torch with +2 Skills and +4 Stats, which was like winning a proverbial lottery in the game. And you know what? that's perfectly fine, because Diablo 2 is not for everyone, that doesn't make it special nor better, as long as the people that love the game, enjoy it, then it's doing a good job.

The same for WoW as well.

You guys are embracing my point it seems. No matter what multiplayer game or mmo it seems like PC based games with endless quests and things to do just make playing a 10 hour console game to me not as enjoyable because I know when I hit chapter 10 the game is almost over and I won't have much else to do except get trophys. WoW, Guild Wars, D2, hell even Runescape just put it in my mind that unless I can play every day and never get bored theres no use playing which is a shame since I used to love console gaming, I still do but not as much. I'm trying to get back into console gaming though with my Ps3.

WoW sucked. Consoles ftw

D2 is not a MMO, although it launched the system that Blizzard then implemented for WoW and some gameplay mechanics that are currently associated with MMOs. Plus, it's ladder system is like a mini MMO (Without the massive).

Hrm, WoW is in its own genre. I can't say it affected my console games at all.

But, ah, too much WoW hate going around here! If you're wondering what the appeal of the game is, I'll say this much: it isn't the story. It's developing your character with friends, and interacting with others in the world. Grinding levels on your own is obviously going to be boring (if that's what anyone was doing). PvP in particular is my fav.

I don't know anyone who plays the game for the story. I don't see that as a problem, as games don't require stories anyway. We're not playing Final Fantasy, here!

As I said above, that's my gripe not only with WoW, but with MMOs in general. I dislike MMOs as they're not what i'm looking for in a RPG. I've never been much of a fan for online gaming, so PvP and other things don't interest me, which takes a lot of the appeal away from WoW, to me.

Plus, I love the Warcraft story from the RTS, as it's one of the richest lores ever created. So I was kind of let down on seeing how they continued that story on WoW. Hopefully they get around to do a Warcraft 4, but I just don't see that happen anytime soon.

As for games not requiring stories, I beg to differ and a lot of people will beg to differ too. Some games depend heavily on the story, and no, not just Final Fantasy (and there are lots of games with stories better than any Final Fantasy).
