Forums - Sony - Got my first Platinum trophy

So as you all know, I have not owned a PS3 for very long, and the first game I played on the platform (Valkyria Chronicles) did not have any trophies.

Well, the second game I played, God of War III, does have trophies. It's pretty great, I guess. Well the game's definitely great, I was referring to the fact of getting the trophy itself.

My only qualm with this game's trophy list is that it doesn't require you to beat Chaos mode to get the Platinum. Why not, GoW3 team? I can beat Chaos Mode! I beat God Mode in the first one and Titan Mode in the scond! I'm tough! I can take whatever you throw at me. Anyone have any idea why they don't require you to beat Chaos mode?

I would like to thank the Nemean Cestus for helping me get this Platinum - its L1 + Square move was invaluable in the final battle when I was getting mobbed and needed some breathing room.

good for you.

This isn't a topic for bragging so much as it is a topic about God of War III's Platinum trophy requirements, I guess

I just find it unintuitive that they don't make you beat it on the hardest mode.

I got my first Platinum Trophy last sunday (Uncharted) and It felt nice, though I don't think I'll be getting lots of them.
I know you should try Demon's Souls. There no question you'll enjoy the challenge. It is my first time playing a WRPG and I am thrilled, though I pretty much suck at it. I was kind of "lost" for a couple of hours, but only after something like 12 hours I manage to get my second trophy.
I really wanted to know about your impressions on Valkyria, specially after the Fire Emblem vs Valkyria Chronicles discussion we had last year.

Well Whats intuitive about making you beat it on the hardest mode to get a Platinum?

Valkyria Chronicles was a good game, though it deserves its own topic.

@Vetteman94:

Well, the Platinum Trophy is like a mark that you've beaten the game fully and completely, right? I mean, Bayonetta requires you to beat Non-Stop Infinite Climax mode to max out your Achievements/Trophies. It just makes sense that if you get a Platinum, you should have to beat the game up, down, and sideways.

I agree but ultimately I guess it is up to the developer's to determine what beating the game "up, down, and sideways" means.

Well thats where I dont really agree,  I dont think that every game should have to be beat on the ultra extreme hard mode, just to get a platinum.

Then what should a platinum be? I'm not syaing something ridiculous like "get through the game without dying on Chaos Mode" or something like that - just that the game be completed in fullness.

Agreed.  Not every game needs trophies to be based on completing the game at a certain level.  Though it seems kind of like a standard to many games but i guess the creators of the GoW3 trophies had other trophy ideas in mind then to just beat the game again.
