Forums - Sony - Add Philippines to the PSN country list (PS Blog Share Idea, pls vote up)

I'm going to the Phillips sometime this year. I can only imagine how much it cost for a PS3 there with the import tax, and what not. Do you guys have XBox Live there?

Nope.  Closest place that does is Singapore.

XBL has much less official support in smaller markets than PSN.  Total number of countries that have access to XBL is 26, compared to 56 for PSN.

The 360 hasn't even officially launched in the Philippines, let alone XBL.

Voted. And while you're at it, vote for my idea:

http://share.blog.us.playstation.com/ideas/2010/04/04/xmb-access-at-all-times/

XMB access at all times. We stay logged in while watching videos, accessing the store, and playing PS1 games (both downloadable and via disc), so why can’t we access the XMB at these times? We can still receive messages and whatnot, and it’s annoying having to stop whatever you’re doing to respond, or having to stop to see if a friend who just logged on wants to play something, etc.

Making XMB access more universal would go a long way towards making the PSN experience more cohesive overall.

nice idea...done and done for both ideas on this thread

i'm so confused about these official launches.

we've had 360 and ps3 over here ever since they launched. i mean i've been working here for three years off of london, and the consoles have been here even before they got to europe. i don't understand what "official launch" is anymore.

Official support in a country basically means the units are shipped and supplied by the console manufacture, as opposed to being shipped to another territory then brought to your region via other means (importing, etc.).

Official support usually means cheaper prices, as stores aren't jumping through hoops to get product.

officially means that Sony/Microsoft themeselves initiated the release of the console and recognize its market thus offering other services for their product. Much like how they officially released the PSP in the Philippines but due to rampant piracy support was dropped like a rock.

The Xbox360 and PS3 are available in the Philippines due to third party importation which may or may not be recognized by both Microsft and Sony. If you look around, almost no Retail stores in the Philippines offer replacement warranty let alone one year warranty. the most you'll get is a one week replacement warranty and 6 months warranty on services. Take note "service warranty", so if some part needs replacing you gotta pay for it

IMO, Microsoft will most likely never officially release the xbox360 in the Philippines due to the fact that for every 1 legit game purchase of a game, a few dozen give or take a hundred or so :P will be pirating it instead.

The PS3 is the only game console where in all owners buy legit games due to thefact that it hasn't been hacked yet HAHAHA although, the used game market is huge. as most will buy their games used or for example, some will buy GOW3, some will buy FF13 while others will buy DI. then when they finish the games and got their platenum or whatever, they simply sell or trade it to someone else.

On Topic: Voted so i dont have to import psn cards (and so i can buy ffvii and viii :P)

You can use some virtual Visa-s to pay for PSN US. Also PSN cards can be bought online with code emailed to you.

We got official support in Russia, but forced to register in UK and US, becasue of lack of content here. For instance you can not buy Fallout 3 DLC in Russian Store or RB2 music.

Goverments should really work out some globalisation laws for internet shopping. All this region restrictions are stupid.

remarkably, if you know where to look, a 120g cost about 15,200 Php or roughly $325 US. New games such as GOW3 cost about 2850 Php or about $60 US.

better than Australia i think

Sure you have my vote since we can understand you very well with no official Live! support here.
