Green should be legal. Usually, "common industrial practices and standards" replace the law whenever specific aspects are not explicitely specified. And usuallly, whenever a software or hardware product is not sold anymore its' support can cease as well.
As for the orange part that wouldn't be legal. You can sue MS for that at least in the EU. |
Since PS3 phat is being discontinued and it's not being sold anymore, the system that features installing other OS then it seems that it is pretty much legal doesn't it?

phat and slim (lol) are both declinations of the same architecture and have the same compatibilities and claims.

Doesn't work that way here in the EU as they both still catogorized under the same PS3 registration regardless of model, discontinuation would mean dropping PS3 support altogether and concentrating on it's successor.
