If you hadn't read your history on human cultures yet, the reason for India to come up with movies with like 70% of song and dance is because they need to keep their citizens happy.
Their blockbuster movies are watched over and over again, some lasting about three to four years. Compared to developed countries, people are bored of movies after mostly a 100 days like Avatar.
