Forums - Microsoft - Greenberg: PS3 Browser 'An Absolute Nightmare', No Future 360 Web Surfing

Yep, the browser is not very good but at least it has one.

As gathered from this thread there are those that use it and find it OK and those that don't.

At least PS3 gives you the choice, use it or don't use, your call.

Last time I used it was when I left my laptop at work. It was crappy but better than nothing.
At least I had that option.

Give me a browser and let me make my own mind up. Don't do my thinking for me.

It says a lot when I use my Wii Opera browser more than the Ps3 one.

the Ps3 one is slow and clunky and well, absolutely horrific.

I would love to know what he likes about the PS3, he is allways spewing poison on anything not Xbox, so his statement has little value.

What so you like about the 360?

Personally, I don't expect anyone who has a vested interest in a given console to think of anything nice to say about a competing console.  As for myself, some of my favorite characters from videogames are exclusive on the Playstation console.

The PS3 browser may not be great without a keyboard, but it's surely much better than just having the crappy Facebook app on the 360.

I find it kind of funny that out of MS, Sony and Nintendo, the only two companies which offer a browser for their consoles are the ones who don't make a browser themselves.

In his defense, he dosent say the browser is a nightmare, but rather the navigation.

I love my PS3 browser because it enables me to watch streamed tv shows and sports that i otherwise can't watch without going online, on my 46" TV.

I don't always agree with Greenberg...

I do agree that the browser I have on my PS3 is useless... TV rendering is inferior to a computer render even on 1080P. Navigation blows with a controller. And many sites don't work properly. Not Sony's fault. It is simply the reality of browsing through a TV.

When I browse, I use my notebook. And I am sure that most other people do too...

Between the two options MS definitely has the better idea. Taking applications and services and optimizing them for a console is a far better way to go than using a web browser, not only on a performance level but a security level as well. I personally believe it was one sony's biggest errors to have a web browser in the first place, I think they could actually remove it and follow MS's plan and be far more successful.

LOL the makers of IE are complaining, LOL, OMG LOL, thats crazy LOL

Yeah but he doesn't take into the fact that I can use any Mouse and Keyboard for easier navigation, and the pages load faster than most computers. And Netflix from the PS3 Browser is the Ideal way to watch Netflix, not from some stupid disc. BTW go to this website on your PS3, google search PS3 divx and choose the first one to pop up, check it out.

The Ps3 browser does suck, especially if you have java script turned on. It freezes all the time. I only use it to look at the ps3 blog are look up something really quick.
