Forums - General - Washington has become a group of thugs :(

While I fully support your right to claim that AT&T are exaggerating the problem, or that they’re whiny, I think it is unacceptable to have the government investigate AT&T because they made the claim against the government; if that is what is actually going on here. Think of all of the businesses and organizations that have spoken out against various actions by the government, do you really want to see all these groups investigated especially if it is done in a one-sided vindictive way?

How is that thug like? AT&T is being asked to come to Congress and provide "an explanation of the accounting methods used by AT&T since 2003 to estimate the financial impact on your company of the 28% subsidy for retiree drug coverage and its deductibility or nondeductibility, including the
accounting methods used in preparing the cost impact statement."

They want to know how AT&T said they'd lose a billion. It can't be that hard to back up a claim right? I've never really seen a thug say "we made new rules on our turf but we'd gladly like to talk to you to see how this effects you. please bring documents and information relating to how our business is damaging your wallet"

AT&T is going to present itself and its problems to Congress. Thug would be to ignore their cries and not give them an opportunity to prove their claims.

AT&T should not have to back up there claims. If AT&T wanted to just close there doors and walk away, they have that right.

And what in the world do you think the government is going to do if AT&T proves they will fall under hardship? Give them money? Give me a break.

What will happen, is the CEO will sit there, and get yelled at for 6 hours by congressmen. It's not an invitation, it's an order. I am sure the CEO of AT&T can't just say to congress "Thanks for the offer, but I am not interested."

Besides, AT&T is a multi billion dollar successful company. Who do you think has a better accounting department? Them, or the federal government?Explaining how the expenditure of money effects profit to Congress, is like explaining how a computer works to a dog. They won't understand.

This has to be the stupidest line I have EVER heard from anyone.

"Wha wha wha, this will cost us $1BIL so fuck you"

"prove it"

"we don't have to"

If AT&T wanted to just close their doors and walk away then they can also shut the fuck up and walk away. AT&T is a shit company anyhow.

Over the past week +1day I have had to follow your threads for my morning humor.

How did Mafoo send this e-mail from 1776?

No. I don't even have cable.

I linked the house.gov website. That run by Fox News?

I like your source, but sorry your topics are redundant. PEACE.

They have been thugs for years and years.... Asking someone to prove your claim does not seem to be a thug tactic Perhaps they are interested in how this is going to hurt them and maybe change it for teh better? We do not know we are not there.Anyways this stuff is always stretched and a lot of times completely changed to fit whoever it is looking at its idea. Not even sure why I am posting the obvious.

There are arguments people could use against Mafoo. However, Fox News and Bush aren't good ones.

Indeed, I was clarified on this recently. These things do not represent his views.

However, I stand by the fact that he's around 234 years late on this revelation.

"Washington has become a group of thugs"

Implying that it is recent ... then how is Bush not a good argument?

I agree with you on the Fox News thing.
