I'd say the big difference.

Mainly, the US gets attacked, the US invades Afghanistan.

Russia invades Chechnya, Russia deports a bunch of the people which kills about 1/4th of them. Get their independence when the USSR falls. Russia invades them again. Russia gets attacked.

Not that innoncent people deserve to be killed by terrorists but...

I'd hardly say the two comparisons are comprable.

US attacked Iraq without reason. There were never weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, and the links between Al Qaeda and Iraqi government were never proven.

US most likely attacked Iraq for the oil.

Considering that Iraq greatly spiked the amount we pay for oil... I doubt that.

Iraq is a WHOLE nother story.  If the majority of people want the US to leave immediatly, they in fact should... and if the majority of people do want the US to leave immediatly and Iraqi terrorists attack us, once again, i'll be pissed but would want the US to pull out.

I think it was just Bush wanting desperatly to put a stable democracy in the middle east in place of dictatorships.  It would stabalize the region somewhat, while also destabilizing the governments nearby.

you could also add :

Iraky threats US with nuclear weapon, US attack them

Wait ... there is no nuclear weapon neither in Iraky, neither in Iran

what an insane amount of crap you can read these days ... Alcaida my ass ! Us is not even sure they have done the 9/11 event. Indeed, nobody knows what happened this day ...

Time to Work !

That's and even worse reason! So they attacked just for attacking?! My god.

Yeah, i've never claimed Bush and Congress were smart.  It's either that or Bush really did think they had WMD.

There were conflicting reports and while WMDs had less proof, it's probably what Bush wanted to believe and also wanted to air on the side of caution.

Although honestly I think that's a worse reason then the two above.  He tricked himself into believeing the smaller pool of evidence.  It didn't help that Saddam pretty much was acting like he had WMDS even though nobody thought he did.  Iraqi officals even admitted they acted like they had them simply because they thought the US wouldn't attack.  I think they had some guy who said he was in contact with washington when he wasn't... and they thought it was just some big ploy to rile up people in the US that benefitted Saddam because his enemies would think he had more teeth then they did.

All in all the Iraq war was a giant faiure on both sides.  Saddam could of eaisly avoided it by just saying "Come on in, take a look at everything!"

Iraq declared that they had chemical and biological agents last year, prior to the 2003 invasion:

For the OP, its very sad to see such a tragedy befall civilians in Russia.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

This will surely not help to let the russian citizen listen to the people in Chechnya.

Only makes the situation worse. And their were bomb accidents after it like one in Dagestan (12 causalties)
