Forums - Sony - MGS4 PS3 80gb Faliure rate?

I know that many people have been having problems with the 60gb version and i ahve been wondering if the same will happen with the PS3 80gb version. I like PS3 a lot but if it will fail soon i can trade it in to get a slim. I have noticed that it makes some noise when it is reading the games ( I am guessing this is normal but im not sure). Also I ahve noticed it does get pretty hot quickly but I have play it for 10 hours straight every Saturady and nothing has happend yet. SO can anyone tell me the chance of the MGS4 80gb failing?Do you have one and has it gave you any problems?

Around the Network

"I believe" the reason the older ones failed more is because of the Cell's SPU being 90nm combined with PS2 BC parts, while the slims are at 65nm. Maybe the weight reduced ones that should be coming out will have the 45nm Cell. What all this means is less heat, and smaller chance of failing because of it. Just keep your PS3 from getting too hot and there shouldn't be any problems.

I own a 60GB PS3 and had it since 12/2006.

I own an 80gb MGS4 bundle PS3. Never gave me any problems. I keep a syringe full of nano-machines close by, just in case, though.

We are the luckiest beings on earth for getting these awesome console bundle ppl! Anyway mine is fine I have a hdmi fan to get the hot air out and a little one to keep it cool. No prblems have been shown but if u wanna be safe sell it on eBay! Add a couple of old boring games and ull get 600$ as I have seen
