MGS4 has great character models to this day but the rest of it is dated. SC is a technically disappointing considering it's 2010. It's not even 720p.

The demo of Splinter Cell didn't look as good as I'd hoped but it was fun. I replayed MGS4 that Sunday when all of the phat PS3's died. It was sill fun but didn't look nearly as good as I remembered.
Have fun, guys!

I think most people were just amazed at how good the character models looked, especially during the cutscenes. I was fairly impressed with the game at release, but I was also disappointed at the low framerate, the poor lighting, and the poor particle engine.
EDIT: Talking about MGS4.
Metal gear Solid 4 is a specialized engine designed for PS3.
Splinter Cell is a modded UE2.5. Not even UE3. So I hope to god MGS4 is better.
Splinter Cells greatness is really in it's amazing gameplay.
