Forums - Gaming - Let's talk retro gaming

I have SNES emulator on my netbook, so I'm stilling going through my old backlog. I'm trying to Chrono Trigger at the moment. I still go back and play Earthbound every so often.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

I shall check some of those out, for now I'm busy with:
Are we There Yet? (great little puzzle collection game)
Space Quest 3
Xenogears
Saga Frontier
Parasite Eve
Vagrant Story
Civilization 1
Misc. NES games.

Maybe PS1 isn't so "retro" but I've been craving those games for a while. I shall take look at some of those you'd all mentioned later =)

@lestatdark,
Great list there! I've played mostly all of them. Theme Hospital, Indy 4500, and Yoda Stories and 4D Stunts are the only ones I haven't played.

Parasite Eve and Xenogears should be your top priority, but since i'm heavily Parasite Eve biased (it's my second favourite game of all time), you must take my word with a grain of salt xD.

I love 4D Stunts, it's the precursor to every game in which you have manageable tracks. You can create your own tracks, and since there are hundreds of pieces, the combination are virtually infinite. Plus, there's a huge internet community behind the game still in this day (One of the largest for a 19 year old game) and tournaments are still organized (via replay visualizations). All this in a 1 MB package xD

I second Parasite Eve.

And since I'm not as biased as Lestat, its worth listening to me

Should be talk about your Grandia or Lunar bias?

Also, I forgot to mention one of the best Action-Adventure/RPG from the NES, Faxanadu.

It's the precursor to games like Soul Blazer and Terranigma, so you must give it a go if you liked any of these games ;)

I am currently playing Ys Book 1 & 2 which is fun.

After that, I guess some more Secret of Mana, Zelda 2 and Chrono Trigger.

I LOVE Faxandu! And I'm totally Grandia-biased myself. I was so happy when Grandia 1 came to PSN =)

And Saga Frontier and Parasite Eve are my top priorities right now. Mmmmm Saga Frontier, one of my favorites =)

@Stefl1504,

STARTROPICS! YES! My friend recently bought a copy of that game on eBay, and we tried to play it, and it froze in like the 5th screen of the first dungeon =( Jnes time!

Actually, on this subject, there's an old NES game that I used to LOVE as a kid, but I don't remember the title, or much about it. It felt Kid Icarus-ish (but with shorter sprites) since you could jump up to get to other parts of the dungeon. And you start outside, on the right of the screen, walk left, and fall into a dungeon. I have tried to download any game with a title that COULD have been this game, but I've yet to find it. I don't even really remember the gameplay, I just remember loving the game. I must find it.

Screw new games, I'm just going to play old games forever.

As long as we talk about Lunars on Sega CD and Grandia 1 and 2
