Not really. The Jam were successful, had a huge fanbase and were praised by critics. I still remember the fans and music press going mad when Paul Weller founded The Style Council soon after The Jam split. At the time the first Style Council album was released (which I loved) I also discovered The Jam and I understood the old fans.
