They've been working on HL Black Mesa for so many years, it puts Valve to shame when it comes to lengthy pipelines.

I don't even think they have a pipeline as Black Mesa is basically a labor of love being produced more or less for nothing using volunteer time from what I understand.

It's what HL Source should have been, but Valve didn't want to spend that much effort revisiting a game.

I konw nothing about this, what is New Black Mesa? Looks cool by the way.

Black Mesa is a remake of Half Life using the Source Engine. Basically from scratch, by individuals who are not employed by Valve. It's like a huge volunteer Ultimate Mod for Half Life.

Technically, so was Half Life Source, but Valve didn't bother to re-do ALL the textures and models and environments. Given the amount of time it's taking for Black Mesa to be finished, can't say I blame them.

Just "Black Mesa", the new applied to screenshots :)

Anyway, it's a mod community project to recreate the entire original Half Life game using the newest Source engine tech for graphics, physics, AI etc.

I'll be the last to criticize a mod, but DAMN, THOSE ARE SOME HUGE BLURRY TEXTURES

the words above were backed by NUCLEAR WEAPONS!

While this isn’t really fair, the unfortunate thing is that by the time they complete this mod it will still look like a 7 to 10 year old game. Something that I have been thinking of for the past several years (while people call for remakes of Playstation/N64 games and PC games from the 90s) is that it probably doesn’t make sense to remake a game until graphics technology has plateaued and that probably isn’t going to happen until the next generation (or possibly the following one)

Textures could use some work.

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

The textures? May be unfinished
