Forums - Gaming - I need some advice on how to beat the last boss in FFXIII?

i did it without the seraph crown. just max your main roles, have vanille stick poison on him then attack away. heal when necessary and hope he doesn't get the one hit kill on you.

my top 5 right now. 1. uncharted 2 2. assassin's creed 2 3. god of war 3 4. final fantasy xiii 5. blue dragon: awakened shadow.

Right as lestat said seraph crowns help

BUT I just used Vanille, light & Hope

Vanille cast poison which made everything easier

having all 3 on ravager build up stagger meter

having all 3 on medic really helps health

And by luck I beat him quickly...before he could use death on me.

I used to have Light, Fang, and Vanille but then i took vanille out and put hope in.  I think ill have to take fang out of the party for this battle and put vanille back in.  After i grind a lil bit ill battle him again and hopefully i can beat him.  Ill try your paradigns just in case.  Thanks!

No problem.

I had Light, Fang & Hope as my main team

But I always died on that boss

I don't like vanille but I gave up my stubborness & got her

And everything worked

Its hard to believe what a difference having 3 medics at once heal the party makes & what a difference having 3 ravagers at one time makes

and vanille is a saboteur too, like fang....except vanille has poison!

So basicaly fang HAD to go even though she's my 2nd fav character in the game!

I just tried it again.  EPIC FAIL!!!  It wasnt even orphan it was barthandelus.  Im just going to beat barthandelus with light, fang, and vanille.  Then get my ass whooped by orphan.  Reset my party and paradigns, then go kick his ass.  Maybe that will work.

And fang is my 2nd favorite character too.  Everybody knows who #1 is *coughLightcough*

Try to make Auto-type of items, it makes all the difference for the first minute of the battle. Sprint Shoes give you Auto-Haste, Morale Talisman gives you Auto-Bravery (for Fang) and Blessed Talisman gives you Auto-Faith. I've been using them since early chapter 11, and they've been life savers.

you guys give this fight way too much credit. you don't need to defend against his instant death attack. just stock on phoenix downs. and his ultimate attack doesn't kill you. it just lowers your hp to 50+. just keep diversity on. that's what i did. i hardly changed paradigms.

You can get lucky and never have him target his OHKO move against your party leader, or you can be very unlucky and having constantly target him/her.

I fall on the second category. Even with 80% Death Resist, he still managed to OHKO my Fang.

^ eh, he never targeted the main character for me. i don't think he's allowed to? my fight (a conservative ass fight) took 21 minutes, and he never targeted the main character. you might be mistaken, he might have killed your main character by something else.

Nope, Progenitorial Wrath can hit anyone on the party, including your main character. I'm not mistaken, i've seen it a couple of times, plus the official guide also refers to that :P

Some people get lucky that he doesn't target the Party leader with it, some are unlucky. It's all due to any kind of Death spell in the game being much more akin to a Russian Roulette than an actual Debuff.

I beat him. I finally beat that son of a bitch. I loved the ending though. Although it would have been a little better with the japanese song but fuck it, its amazing anyways. I love this game and would give it a 9.8 out of 10.
