Having tried 3 different HTC Android offerings (G1, Dream, Eris), I agree. I've really enjoyed HTC and their alliance with T-Mobile.

My fiancee has a HTC Dream/MyTouch with infinite web, text and 200 minutes for $10/mo. You can't get a better deal than that- She's really happy with the phone.

That's an amazing deal. Especially the infinte web/text. I don't think I use 200 minutes in a year, let alone a month.

The problem is that regardless of the technological upgrades on the phone, if it doesn't have Itunes, it's inferior as a whole.

If you think that camera is impressive you should see some of the Sony phones they have available in Europe. I think one has a 12MP camera on it.

That's just ridiculous...  *faints*

My camera is 11MP and doesn't support 720p video capture, yet these phones do.   Really its the 720p video capture that shocks me the most with this phone.  I would die for a device capable of HD video capture (provided it is also good quality lighting and whatnot).

I was looking a the 12mp SE cameras. Nice things about them, is they are great cameras that have a phone in them. Not a great phone with a camera (although they are good phones).

problem is they are a pricy, and aside from a phone and a camera, they don't do much else. They can browse the web, but not that great.

Link to the SE: http://www.trustedreviews.com/mobile-phones/review/2010/01/18/Sony-Ericsson-Satio-U1i/p1

Anyway, the HTC Evo 4G is my next phone if the following is true:

  • The camera doesn't suck. It's not all about megapixels.
  • I can do voice and wifi tether at the same time
  • The battery does not die in just a few hours
  • The next iPhone is not something amazing

I currently have an iPhone, and nothing out there competes with the Apple app store yet. While Android is a very nice OS, it's not about the OS. It's about the apps. They are not close to Apple yet. However, I am getting an iPad, so the iPhone is really just duplicated functionality.

For me a phone with an amazing camera and wifi tethering + iPad = win.

iTunes is inferior.

My Droid has all my music on it.  All purchased for a lot cheaper than iTunes (thank you Amaon!).  And yes my Droid integrates with Amazon MP3 just fine, thank you

How is dropbox on it? How about mint? Oh yea, those things are not out yet.

How does Madden play on it, or supper monkey ball? There are more games for the iPhone then there are apps for Android.

How was that launch of Android 2.1? Oh yea, they rolled it back.

Not trying to be a jerk here, just saying that today, the iPone is still the best phone for someone who wants a smartphone (if AT&T does not suck in your area).

Android is coming on strong, and could pass the app store some day, but today, it's not remotely there, and it's all about the apps.

Mafoo - Its not true that there are more games for the iPhone than there are apps for the Android. That metric was passed about 2 months ago.

Oh, by the way, does your iPhone have GPS navigation turn-by-turn? For free? I know mine does

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

How is that Apple douchebaggeryy err... censorship... over on the iPhone? How about them newspapers being censored by Apple, damn fine read right? Oh yeah, you can't.

Not trying to be a jerk here, just saying that today, Apple is still the biggest douchbag and its smartphone is the worst choice for a phone anyone can pick.

Apple might buckle with its censorship and drop the douchebag attitude, but today it's not even remotely there.

P.S. The sooner Apple goes out of business with its overpriced, controlled, underpowered, piles of crap, the better the world will be.

Well, being they are passing MS very soon as the richest tech company in the world, I would not hold your breath for that.

And there is the porn app on the iPhone... it's called Safari.

And just out of curiosity, how would the world be better if a company stopped selling a product? Btw, if you have a touch screen devise like an Android phone, you need to be thanking Apple. When the iPhone was announced, every one thought they were insane to bring a phone to market with a touch interface. Now everyone is doing it (and it's good for you and me, not bad).

Why all the hate? I would think someone who walks and rides public transportation everywhere they go and meets all those cool people on the street, would be a much happier person. I guess driving to work has it's advantages.

Define free?

There are many apps you can buy in the iPhone that do it, all under 100 bucks. Once you own the apps, they don't cost anything monthly. Also each one has its advantages. One even tells you where the cops are.

How many turn by turn choices do you have on your phone? ;)

Oh, and FYI: there are 24,000 games, and 20,000 in entertainment in the phone. Most entertainment apps are really games. Even if the number was half, that's 34,000 games. There is an average of 84 games submissions to the app store a day as well. There are 30,000 Android apps.
