Forums - Sony - Should I Trade my PS3 Phat

Okay i bought it two years ago when MGS4 came out. I have the MGS4 edition. It is really awesome i like how i have the 4 usb ports even though i ony need one and i like the memory car readers. The backwards compatibility is also good since i never owned a PS2. But i only played one PS2 game so far on it. I also dont use the other OS feature. If i take it back into Best Buy I can get a new slim + $200. I can also spend that $200 on games and other upcoming stuff. But i dont know because i do like how my current PS3 looks like compared to the slim. My warrany is expiring in July. What do you guys think? SHould i trade it in?

im in the same boat as you i have the 60gb it already ylod on me

in ur case i would wait till the warranty ends then sell it online u can easily get 300$ for it
then buy a slim and not lose any money

i would wait till the fall though theres a new sku coming out 2100A from 2000A and there could be a price cut 250g for 300$ or most likely a nice 300$120gb bundle

or open it up or send to a 3rd party like gophermods have them redo the thermal paste thats whats causing the ps3s to overheat and then have HW failures but the current slim still uses the cheap thermal paste and there are already reports on the unofficial ylod victims list of slims yloding

im saying that bestbuy will give me $200 for it because the.y match the price from when i bought it. So i will actually be getting money back. Iwont be losing any money at all

i got a slim for the extra space 40gb was FAR to small i kept having to delete stuff every time i downloaded a new demo or had to install a new game it was such a pain

Jesus, I would do it. I actually had a similar thing happen to me with my 360 elite at Radioshack. I bought it for 499+50 for the warranty, and when I brought it in broken they only had the last pro model, so they gave me about 300 dollars of store credit in addition to the new console. The hard drive space has yet to be an issue.

You're basically getting a newer, cooler running machine that has double the hard drive space and lacks a few features you say you don't use.

do it, buy if you do not use BC then might as well get a slim and 200 dollars right.

Are you doing a trade-in or something?

I have a MGS4 PS3, and I would do that. But I bought mine at walmart. :/

its a best buy thing. if they dont have the item you bought anymore, in my case MGS4 ps3, they just give you store credit which will about $520
