Forums - Gaming - Where is the Red Steel 2 hype?

I have been reading this website for awhile now.  During this time I had seen the following games for the Wii go through a fairly large degree of hype on here:

* No More Heroes

* MadWorld

* The Conduit

All these games had a degree of hype on how awesome it was and a near begging frenzy for people to pay attention to it.  To even question the hype level, and ask why the big deal brought the questioner condemnation by the fans.  I had suspected there was a degree of hyping the Wii in the process, particularly with the Conduit.  No More Heroes and MadWorld were more of, "Yes, we can have Mature games on the Wii also guys.  STOP MAKING FUN OF US!"  I had thought, for the most part, the hype level was too high regarding these games, in retrospect.  HOWEVER...

I want to discuss Red Steel 2 now.  Why wasn't this game even remotely getting half the hype the other titles did?  Is it because it a Teen rated title?  Is it because they prior hypefest scared people from talking about it, particularly since the original was disappointing?

I ask this because I did pick up Red Steel 2 and I have to say, this game needs to be talked about.  It has a cool game world (modernized old west combine with Japanese Samurai).  The art style works also, and the controls are very good.  It also does something different.  It doesn't try to be like a 360 or PS3 FPS and say, "Look I am the Wii and I can do the same!".   No, it plays to the strengths of the Wii.  Ok, so it is single player, but so is No More Heroes and MadWorld.

The game is also getting good to very good reviews, justifiably so.  So anyhow, can we get a bit of hype on this game... please?

I can not hype something I have not bought our least at the moment plan to. Would be nice to see some more discussion from people who have. But, we had the news of teh 3DS that pretty much steals thunder from any 3rd party game heh

I tried to hype it. http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=102671&page=1&str=214745809#

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Red Steel 2 may be a great game (I honestly don't know) but it is still the sequel to Red Steel. Red Steel killed Red Steel 2's hype for me.

3DS killed everything.

I am somewhat interested in the title, but hesitant. The higher review scores that some sites are giving are also usually from the same sites that reviewed MadWorld highly, and that title has the dubious honor of being one of my most disappointing gaming purchases ever.

You mean the Nintendo forum?  I had debated doing that, but the gaming forum is about games in general, so I posted it here.

In regards to hype, there was almost no hype for Red Steel 2 before its release date and announcement of 3DS.

All I care about right now is getting Ys for VC.

3D games are too complicated and difficult for my age.

I'm definitely buying this game. The motion plus sword play has me excited. But with the 10 hours campaign and no multiplayer, this is going to be a game I pick up at $30-$40. Plus I still have Rune Factory Frontier sitting there unplayed.
