Wait, HSA's are illegal now? I haven't heard that part of it. I thought you were going to say that your plan wouldn't cover children with preexisting conditions or had yearly limits.

That's my problem.  My health insurance has that and I can't afford more expensive health insurance.

The scariest are the plans that had lifetime limits. Seriously, one big surgery and the company wouldn't pay for anything again, ever. . . **shivers**

Sorry to hear about your plan, here's the good part though, no more yearly limits!

Eh, it'll take a long time to implement.  So hopefully I'll be in better shape by then.

Lifetime limits are messed up.  My plan didn't have that.  It's more the addition to the backend of the yearly plans that are going to raise my rates.

Bah.

I was going to share this really interesting medical insurance program with you, Mafoo. Unfortunately, it seems their qualifications are a little....Strict..

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Why is your insurance illegal now?

In the bill, insurance has to cover 85% of my outgoing costs. In an HSA, insurance pays nothing until 2,500, and then it kicks in heavy. So under the rules, they don't apply.

It's unclear if the 1000 my company puts in will be calculated, but being Democrats have been trying to kill HSA's for years, my guess is it won't.

EDIT: Ops, I said bill.. I meant in the law. it's not just a bill anymore.

Moral of the story: don't get a vasectomy.

Or the moral of the story is take care of your well being, because you are ultimately responsable for yourself.

Thanks to my life choices, I can pay for it myself either way.

Bless this bill, and bless Obama, stop being selfish TheRealMafio and think about the others this will help.

OMG the government did something, I think the world must be about to end.

Selfish? Really?

I donate thousands of dollars to local organizations. I bought $400 in tile for a habitat for humanity house last year. We have a huge storm come through this year, and it wiped out a bunch of mailboxes. I bought (and installed) 10 of them in a part of town where people didn't even have enough money for the 50 bucks it cost to do it (or the equipment to remove the snow and replace them).

Our local school sports programs are underfunded, so I usually write a check for 500 to the sports and music programs.

Tell the people when I no longer have the means to fund them, that I am just being selfish.

And just out of curiosity, how can I work my ass off, and go from poverty to prosperity, with doing nothing more then putting for a considerable amount of effort to get here, be the selfish one, when someone who did far less then me wants to take away what I worked hard to obtain?

Wouldn't the person who didn't work 60 hours a week for years, and expect the same level of lifestyle as me be the selfish one?

Bless the government for setting us on the road for lower investment, potentially harming the economy, and bringing about greater unemployment as a result.  Bless this bill for making it more likely that people with "cadillac" health plans will choose a plan just under the limit further reducing the revenue that this bill brings in.  Bless the bill for reaffirming the stranglehold that drug companies have on the industry.  Bless the bill for rolling in the big financial payout for its expenses AFTER the next congressional and presidential elections.   Most of all, bless this bill for removing rights away from citizens by requiring the purchase of a private product soley because they draw breath.  We didn't win.  Health insurers won.  We now have to pay them when we didn't have a choice before.  The ONLY part of that bill I agree with could have been done outside of that bill, and that was protecting those with preexisting conditions.  Stop calling people selfish when there are real concerns about what this bill will mean.

OMG the government did something, they put their had in my pocketbook again, for little actual gain.

I give that post a 9.2.
