I say yes (Hopefully), I want a 20 hour-long gears of war dammit and i want it now!

You won't get that even if they make Blu Ray Gears of War games unless its a compilation both Gears 1/Gears 2 as that adds up to about 20 hours.

I doubt Microsoft will cave in to Sony on the whole Blu-ray issue.

Also, I don't think Sony will allow Microsoft to use blu-ray, and if they did, I'd expect sony would get a cut.

blu-ray will be superceded by the time the next gen comes around anyway.

the red part is where you fail.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

I agree, especially as a Win Mobile 7 Sony phone will allow you to log into both Live and PSN, but probably not at the same time. Oh and it won't be of much benefit as Microsoft can gain the use of HD-DVD quite cheaply if they wanted to, Sony doesn't have the monopoly on high density disc formats and thats ignoring the fact that they control less than 1/3rd of Blu Ray so making dicks of themselves over discs wouldn't be in their best interest.

i hope so because i wan't a f@#%ing Elder Scrolls that isn't Trimmed down and later released as DLC.

Dunno, but unless M$ can get some sweetheart deal for royalties of it, I highly doubt it. PLUS doesn't blu-ray use Java as it programming language? So, unless those things can be hashed out, I still think M$ is going to go with DVDs and have 250 GB of storage in every console...it's cheaper in the long run for them.

HD-DVD is long gone.

I bet they have at least one model that is DD only. The rest will either have Blu-Ray or some other proprietary disc type that MS wants to use instead.

the only problem is Toshiba is an was the only one making the HD DVD optical drive's, Now Even Toshiba is making Blu-Ray optical drive's. yes It does not mean Microsoft could not get them made again, but I doubt that anyway with statement's like this, I think they will still stick with DVD 9 if they have any physical disc format at all.

Microsoft: Xbox doesn't need Blu-ray

'Future of home entertainment' is online, platform holder tells CVG

Microsoft has told CVG that it considers digital media - and not the Blu-ray disc - the 'future of home entertainment'.

Calls for Microsoft to increase the capacity of its games media have grown since Lost Planet 2 producer Jun Takeuchi said that Capcom had to cut content from the Xbox 360 version of the game due to size restrictions of the DVD format.

However, director of Xbox and Entertainment at Microsoft Stephen McGill told CVG this week:

"We have no plans to adopt [a] Blu-ray drive for the Xbox 360. In fact, the future of home entertainment started last autumn when Xbox 360 became the first and only console to offer instant-on 1080p streaming HD movies."

McGill's comments come after the God Of War III developers at Sony Santa Monica praised the 50GB capacity of PS3's multi-layered Blu-ray discs.

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer hinted earlier this week that there will be revised models of Xbox 360 coming 'in the future'.

250GB Xbox 360 'Super Elite' models are now available in bundles with games such as Final Fantasy XIII and Forza 3.

Microsoft has alway's stated Digital distribution is it. I do not think Microsoft is going to change that IDEA even for the next Xbox.

Sony don't HAVE to be dicks about it, but they can if they want to, they were founding members of the Blu-ray Disc Association and I'm sure they carry a lot of weight there (considering blu-ray wouldn't of succeded without Sony).  And i don't think Microsoft would grudge paying a fraction of every games profits to Sony (no matter how small).

There are plenty other easier/better options open to Microsoft.  They don't HAVE to use blu-ray so I can't see them doing so.
