Forums - Sony - PSN Subrcription service

I think 'if' they are going to go with Subscriptions, they will make it like some internet companies, so that when you reach a certain megabyte/gigabyte then the cost goes up.

In Sony's case they will offer FREE online game play at a certain limit, like every month is 20-30hours of free online play, anything over is for paid subscribers.

Casual online gamers get FREE online play because they play less then the time allowed, and Sony still gets to use FREE online in their ads.

Hardcore online gamers have to pay for anything over the time allowed, plus get cross-chat and other perks.

But this is just a suggestion, not saying this is what it will be obviously.

can I ask how you came to this or what made you think of this?

Internet companies don't do that in the US.

and suggestion or not.....go die for even thinking of that suggestion.

Yes they do, some companies have a 100gig limit a month.

Wth Sega.. you banned him for that comment :S?

Not that it's even up for discussion in a thread, but if you have a problem with a warning/ban, please PM a Moderator.

Who knows were thoughts come from, they just appear.

Don't see it being such a far fetched form of action on Sony's part if it was implemented, don't know why so many people are confused.

lol

these threads should be automatically locked. people just dont seem to get that sony said there will be a free and pay services and that ALL current features will remain FREE and will not be messed around with.

what sony is doing is

premium users get faster download/upload speeds
premium users most likely will have exclusive access to 'degradable demos'
premium users will most likely get other sweet deals involving classic ps/ps2/psp games and minis
premuim users will get better features

i doubt it'll be anything drastic like what sega mention

Sony wouldnt limit or restrict access like that for the sole purpose of those who invested on the ps3 when it was 600$. sony big advantage over xbl is the free features (current). with what sega suggested it'll make it no different then xbl and who do you think people will choose?

The problem is that some ppl dont understand the premium is a service added on top of whats already on PSN so if you dont want it you will continue as alwayz

Really? I didn't know Sony 'Finalized' the premium service plan and made the 'Final Plan' public for everyone to see.

I have seen rumors, and i was making a suggestion.

ya and? an article from months ago stating: "we are studying the possibility of introducing a subscription model, offering premium content and services, in addition to the current free services"

meaning even he doesn't know 100% what will be the final stage of the service, in addition to the current free service is a loose term, it can mean demos, or movie previews and messaging.

Like I said, if it's free for a certain amount of online game time, then it's still considered FREE.

>_> SEGA......... READ POST AGAIN DUDE XD, the top sentence.....you basically said it

I read it, and it sates they are looking into a subscription option that will not interfere with the free service.

But I see that as a loose term, months old, and don't be surprised when Sony has a pay-to-play option.
