What is the point in that?

Technically every version of the game, from the English version to the original Japanese voices, are called 'Dubs' or 'Dub overs'.  Because you're putting a 'dub over' track for the voices.  The term has just become synonymous with 'dubs' because you're 're- dubbing' the voices for a new region (specifically things like Foreign Films and Anime).  The term just got shortened to 'dubs'.

Regardless, even major reviewers and fans are cringing at the voices for this game.  Which they often just ignored or put up with bad voices in the past, such as for FFX.  This game is specifically getting downgraded for the voice acting.  And considering the treatment Final Fantasy has gotten inthe past, and the fact that most reviewers and fans have simply looked the other way whenever there was bad voices, I consider that a major deal.  And a positive step in the right direction.

Now, does this mean I want everyone to stop buying the game or only listen to the Japanese audio?  No.  I do however think it shows that they need to vastly increase the quality of the localizations of the games (not just for Final Fantasy but all SquareEnix productions, especially Dragon Quest).  As well as making dual audio an option.  When even smaller publishing companies like XSeed and Atlus can put the option on their games, SquareEnix really has no excuse.  Especially if it would increase sales, even just by 10,000 units or so.

And I personally know people in the past who skipped buying games, including Final Fantasy games, due to the games not having dual audio and/or the voices being 'annoying'.

Well the voices were good apart from Vanille and Fang that was just wrong

they gave them diffrent asents because they came from a diffrent culture.

and i would destory Fang.

Was hoping for something a bit more raunchy perhaps?

Fang is one of my dream women. ^^ So fine! :D

I'm scared to say anything, because whenever I play a FF game, I'm not sure which characters are male, and which are female. FF13 is better about this, but nonetheless.
