Final Fantasy 13 Battle System and Story Impressions (Spoilers)

I'm in the process of doing a user review for this game. Obviously, I haven't finished the entire game yet (I will soon enough), but I just have to share a couple of impressions based on the battle system and the story overall.

For the story,

I'd have to say, the way they introduced the cast was a tad bit overkill in the beginning and it seemed like a mess, but as I played more and got to know more of their background stories, each one of them has grown on me! I hated Vanille at the start of the game because her voice was just unbearable, but after Chapter 8 and the dramatic scene with her and Sazh, I actually felt sad for the character (esp. Sazh). The game's story is phenomenal, the cast is amazing and memorable, certainly more memorable when you compare it to the cast of FF12 which i thought only had one memorable cast (Balthier). The story picked up on the 2nd chapter and I am enjoying it up to the part where I am now (Chapter 9), and I must say that I think this FF has the potential to topple my favorite FF of all time (FF8), but not because of its story....

Now for the gameplay,

I absolutely love the battle system this time around. It seemed very streamlined at first (and it is! for parts like, no more mp bars, less stat calculations), but the crystarium (spell check?) system and the paradigm shift system really made up for my "streamlined" complaint and I think its safe for me to say that the battle system IS the BEST aspect of the game, which I think is the most important aspect of this game genre (second is the story). I haven't yet tried the "open-world" part of the game yet, so I think this battle system will only get better once i get to that part of the game. =]

I'd say, this FF, stands out to me when comparing it to other FF's in the past and I will gladly say that so far, my score for the game currently stands at 93/100.
