Well this thread seems to be about personal tastes to me...and to be precise, I've finsihed Uncharted 1,2, Resistance1,Little Big Planet than stated, but not completed, Killzone 2 and Resistance 2.

Why does anyone care whether the games are first party, second party, or third?

A good game is a good game. I don't care who makes it.

I dare you to find a game franchise more revered than Mario, Metroid or Zelda. Every time Nintendo makes a game, it automatically becomes one of my favorite games of all time. There are NO exceptions to this rule.

As good as Sony's games may be, they have no soul. In every Nintendo game, I can feel the love and dedication that went into making it. Whether it from the writing and story (Fire Emblem), or the great characters and puzzles (Zelda), great atmosphere (Metroid), or even just the pure joy (Mario), nothing in any generation has rivaled Nintendo, and nothing ever will.

P.S. I am completely unashamed to admit my Nintendo fanboyism.

They have daemon soul

Sony makes quality stuff this gen: Uncharted 2, God of War, Gran Turismo, LittleBigPlanet... but all these miss a certain element. I can't quite pin it down, but they all play like third party games. I guess what I'm trying to say is, a Nintendo game feels like a Nintendo game, but Sony games don't have much in common with eachother.

I also dislike the art approach for many Sony games. It's trying to be cool and edgy but it's mostly generic. Gameplay is still the most important aspect though, and Sony has nailed it this gen.

I've always loved Sony's 1st party. If anything, I'd have to say I'm least impressed with them this gen, though that has a lot to do with Japan studio being a shadow of it's former self.

This Gen Sony takes the cake for 1st party games. Followed by MS and then Nintendo.
Overall. Its Ninty no doubt

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

I wouldn't have minded if you just said that you prefer Nintendo games...theres nothing wrong with that opinion..But "lacking soul" is a serious accusation....

God of War, Uncharted

Uncharted

God of War, Team ICO games

This is something that almost ALL Sony exclusives have - Killzone, Uncharted, God of War, inFAMOUS

Wipeout, LBP, God of War, inFamous

he probably didnt even play those games

Those are all opinions anyways. I personally don't really like some of the characters in Uncharted (Drake, ugh, please come up with a more realistic protagonist (and less of an Indy clone) please). Sully is awesome though.

I find atmosphere in Metroid far superior to Uncharted, God of War, and Killzone. And for pure joy, only LBP can even compare to NSMBW and SSBB for me, and even then, it's still pretty far away.

It's all about perspective, even if I say one is better than another, I don't expect or care if someone else agrees or not. It's my opinion, and those are his opinions. If he hasn't played all of the games, then it's really hard for him to talk about it without bias; but whether there is bias or not, it's still his opinion. If he feels Sony games are "lacking soul", there's nothing wrong with that.

For those wondering, here's the 1st party developed (or co-developed) games this gen so far... only retail, no downloadables, and only games that saw  release in at least one western market...

I would like to speak on the bolded part.

I have to say i have come to a realization recently that makes me very happy inside. The current Sony fan base are truely hardcore. Not because they play M rated games or own a lot of game but because they are true Sony fans and are very pationate. I respect that a lot. The casuals and some of the hardcore PS2 fanbase jumped ship to the Wii and 360. Now most of whats left of PS3 owners, at least up to this point, is the real Sony fans. The kind of fan that really digs the PS3 games and the Sony game's. This is the flipside of me. I'm the same way with my Wii and Nintendo. I'm very pationate about Nintendo and the Wii. The thing i really love about this site is people like me and the Sony fans on this site, or at least most of them, can get along because eventhough we are pationate we can repect the other console's games, even if we don't like the. Some Sony fans don't like SMG but they have to respect it, the same way i HATE UC2 and Heavy Rain, but i can respect them.

A little off topic here but there it is. Sony fans i salute you. Now I'm going to go back to the best PS3 and the best Baseball game ever made, MLB 10 The Show.

PS: @MaxwellGT200: Sony does domiate in one genre. The baseball game because The Show is teh bet game evar!!!!11!!1!!!!!

GO METS!

You have a point there with the baseball games at least score wise, but like I said in the response to pearljammer, I think of dominating in terms of many things, and its hard to say they dominate baseball games, it seems like no one does, though who dominates the sports genre is clear and thats madden.

I'm quite sure that PES and FIFA are bigger than Madden. If you live outside the US, almost no one plays Madden.
