If a Gears Of War clone, a call of duty clone and 2D platform with crappy controls and user content, an hack-slash game that can be completed triggering the square button is what this gen has best to offer we are going nowere

Yeah, god forbid other people have a different opinion from you. Hell, in fact, the clone remarks were pretty ignorant by themselves. If you knew anything about Killzone 2's shooting mechanics (or how Resistance and MAG's online set-up are, for that matter), I don't think you'd say that, or even Uncharted being a Gears clone when the cover system has been used before Gears not to mention it also has puzzle solving and platforming.

Anyways, OT:

Sony has yet to develop a game of quality matching Nintendo's franchises. But I think this gen they've done a great job, developing and publishing games of various genres. So to put it simply, Sony = better variety, and Nintendo = better exclusives.

Microsoft exclusives...while they're good, I don't think they're in the same league as that of Sony's or Nintendo's. First of all, I have access to a PC to play third party titles/some first party titles which are Xbox 360 and PC. That can change if they build a robust first party and shift most of their focus to 360 exclusive titles. I give them credit for Xbox Live, though, it's very well organized and has plenty of content.

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

well MS is pretty piss poor imo. i mean, MS does have a fair amount of great exlusives but mass effect, splinter cell, gears of war, left for dead,....not first party.

nintendo has been a great developer but i've outgrown them. if anyone remembers, at the beginning of this generation i was a huge nintendo fanboy. but, the weakness in nintendo's releases this gen and the strength in sony's releases has made me switch my preference.

Sony games have a unique feel. I can't describe it. There are only a few Sony franchises that I LOVE. Nintendo and surprisingly, Microsoft have franchises that are nearer to my heart for whatever reason. I don't know. I guess I'll say this: When Sony is good, they're very good. When they're mediocre, Sony fans still love them. And that's O.K.

I don't know how it could be better told...

It's threads like this that makes me come back here day  after day .

I have said this before, We need to enjoy this generation even more because to me, it has been the most balanced and have produced some of the most amazing experiences since I started gaming. Even the bad games are good.

Ya know i don't agree with you much psrock but you hit the nail on the head here.

I know this is probibly said every gen and ever year but IMHO I think this gen has been the best overall gen ever. Every machine is fantastic with a great library of games. Furthermore I think 2010 will go down as the best gaming year in history, beating out 1996 and 2007.

Sony's starting to have better games for the PS3, the xbox as usual but need to expand its userbase
Nintendo is doing pretty well, regardless of having better games or not because it has one of the best selling franchises ever

Personally I think Microsoft's biggest mistake since they came into the console market is calling their console an X-BOX. It just reaks non-casual (Hardcore) and that's who they really need to attract and are attempting to with Natal. Playstation seems very balanced and for all audiences and Wii sound's very casual and party friendly.

The casual games they have produced have not been very succesfull or rememberable. (B&K Nuts&Bolts, Viva Pinata's) yet if they were on the Wii platform they'd most likely sell like hot cakes.

Have you ever noticed it's generally the Xbox or Xbox games that are mentioned in videogame violence and sex debates yet the Playstation 3 has equally violent if not more (GOW III lol) and a ton more nudity. The only nipple my Xbox has rendered is Snow's (Final Fantasy XIII) and Dante's Wife and some monsters (Dante's Inferno), oh wait... And the penis of a corrupt polictican (GTA Lost & Damned)  All you Ps3 owners can experience that soon anyway

I believe if Microsoft ever wants to be a hit with the casuals they'll have to ditch the Xbox brand name which would be bad, they would lose their identity that they've been building for the last 9 years.

Could you ever see Sony dropping the Playstation brand name? Nintendo can change because Nintendo is the brand name. Nintendo 64, Nintendo Gamecube, Nintendo Wii etc.

That's my thought anyway.

I haven't played a PS3 exclusive games, but, they do look really nice. I'm a Wii owner and every time I play my Wii it's always a fun experience, especially when I'm playing with friends or family.

It's weird to not agree with someone who's always right, that sounds like a weakness you need to work on.

This is pretty much exactly how it is.  I mean everyone has their great games, everyone has some meh stuff as well, but man oh man, if that meh game is made by Sony there's gonna be people that love it, any word that it could just be average can start a fight, and you're right it is perfectly fine, just it's crazy to me to see any fanbase defend a game from what it is.

To be honest, this gen I really feel Sony has made far better titles than they did last gen, they're really starting to return to the Sony I enjoyed during the PS1 era, but it took necessity for it to happen.  But in the end while they've tried to compete on just about every genre, with every developer/publisher, but still they haven't REALLY matched the quality of a Halo 3/CoD4 for FPS, or the Mario platformers for 2D/3D platformers.

It's much like Sony is the jack of all trades and makes the great games that keep you busy/buying games, but they really lack that genre they just dominate at, and it's the best game of its genre.  Don't take me the wrong way here, since some of my top games this gen are Sony made, but they have never really shown to be a dominating force in any one genre, like many people don't even want to compete with Nintendo with platformers and that says volumes, though I would argue Sony has a good hold on the monkey catching sims (I'm really wanting news on Ape Escape 4)

Just my 2 cents.

I would like to speak on the bolded part.

I have to say i have come to a realization recently that makes me very happy inside. The current Sony fan base are truely hardcore. Not because they play M rated games or own a lot of game but because they are true Sony fans and are very pationate. I respect that a lot. The casuals and some of the hardcore PS2 fanbase jumped ship to the Wii and 360. Now most of whats left of PS3 owners, at least up to this point, is the real Sony fans. The kind of fan that really digs the PS3 games and the Sony game's. This is the flipside of me. I'm the same way with my Wii and Nintendo. I'm very pationate about Nintendo and the Wii. The thing i really love about this site is people like me and the Sony fans on this site, or at least most of them, can get along because eventhough we are pationate we can repect the other console's games, even if we don't like the. Some Sony fans don't like SMG but they have to respect it, the same way i HATE UC2 and Heavy Rain, but i can respect them.

A little off topic here but there it is. Sony fans i salute you. Now I'm going to go back to the best PS3 and the best Baseball game ever made, MLB 10 The Show.

PS: @MaxwellGT200: Sony does domiate in one genre. The baseball game because The Show is teh bet game evar!!!!11!!1!!!!!

GO METS!

I didn't even know what he was referring to most of the time. I thought the GeOW clone was supposed to be Quantum (now multi-platform in the West) no idea about the COD clone and the 2D platformer which is actually 3D with really simple controls and great user content is obviously LittleBigPlanet. But that's not a clone of anything.

i'm a xbox fan. I enjoy playing god of war and shadow of the col...that's about it. The only other game i'm really hyped for is last guardian.

I like shooting games. people on ps3 never talk and in mgs4 everybody types. it's a shooting game, not a fuckin mmorpg.
