I don't think that you can claim that Sony is kicking Microsoft's ass in Europe when the XBox 360 has a 2 Million unit lead and is only being outsold by (approximately) 10,000 units per week; at that rate it would take Sony 4 years to catch the XBox 360.

Microsoft has already lost $6.5 billion on their games venture since 2001, due to bad planning, dependence on FPS games and sheer corporate arrogance, so they're under lots of pressure to cut their losses. Microsoft's position in the console market is surprisingly tenuous. I think most Sony fans have wisened up and realized the 360 is their best bet this generaiton.
At this point Sony is like someone who's been bitten by a zombie.  They aren't dead yet but it's only a matter of time.  I don't think the Wii and 360 are much in direct competition anymore.  They might be going after the same markets, but they're different enough that they aren't exactly head to head.  The PS3 and 360 were going head to head, but now it's more like boot to head.

I know you believe you understand what you think I said but I don't think you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.
