My parents and I leave in different countries from Europe, 3300 kms (2050 miles) away, so I just see them once a year.

EDIT: Also, about your dad that is already gone, I was kinda expecting someone to come in and say this but I didn't want to refer it in the OP.

I feel sorry to you people who's in this situation but that's the course of life.

My parents live about an hour to an hour and a half away (60-70 miles) and I see them a few times a year. Every few weeks to month or two I call and check in.
