Ok, so I decided to try pre-ordering Pokemon Soul Silver from Newegg the other day because it was $35 (same as Amazon) with free shipping. Normally amazon offers free 5-7 day shipping, but then takes 3-5 days just to put the game in a box unless you are willing to pay for regular/expedited shipping.

Newegg says it is free 3-day shipping so I figured I'd try it out and see if I got it faster, but I haven't gotten my shipping confirmation yet. Is this normal for newegg or did I just get unlucky? I mean, if I have to wait every time, then I'd rather go with Amazon.com as their preorder guarantee would have saved me $2.

So does anyone else have any experience buying from newegg?

I live in New York, and I've had the often surprising experience of getting things either the day after I ordered or two days after from Newegg. In general (at least to where I live) I think they're faster than Amazon, but I don't know about preorders. I remember reading about newegg sending a game out early once and breaking the street date.... but aside from that, no experience.

yea, I'm in Syracuse NY and they ship from NJ which is closer than where Amazon ships from, so I would expect fast shipping (and always got it with my PC components) but this is the first time I preordered, but so far it seems useless.

I've ordered a few games from Newegg. They are very good I have never had a bad experience with them. They usually ship the same day and send you the tracking number immediately.

They do not ship everything out of NJ tho.  They have 4 shipping locations and it all depends on which of the 4 (that is the closest to you) has the items.  I believe the warehouses are in Cali, Tenn, Texas, and NJ (there might be more). 

I purchase everything electronic that I can from Newegg (Tvs/monitors/computer equipment/even a laptop) and have only had shipping problems with 1 order of 4x2G RAM I purchased (that took 2 weeks but was coming from NJ during the snowstorm).  Never purchased a game/console from them tho, but I do not see any reason it should be different.
