Forums - Sony - How to play music from computer on PS3

Hey guys sorry to make a whole thread for this, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to play music on my PS3 from my computer. I tried setting up a homegroup and sharing my music file folders to the homegroup but still no luck.

My PS3 recognizes my computer as it shows up under music, pictures, videos...etc but when i try to select my computer through the PS3 it says

"access to the media server is not allowed. It is possible that the system name for this PS3 system, "marks PS3" has not been registered. Check the settings for the media server."

Anyone know what to do?

Are you using PS3 media server? If not, get it now and enjoy.

I can't remember how i got mine to work. I think what you have is that you aren't sharing your computer with other ones around you. You do have win7 right? I think I went in and made it connect with other media devices in my home. The computer that is. Though everything I have is wired so i didn't have to do any wireless stuff.

Yeah I'm using windows 7(which is awesome btw) and its all wireless stuff.

I use this: http://code.google.com/p/ps3mediaserver/

http://tversity.com/download -- Download this program (its free) And you can add any video or music files to it and it will stream to your PS3, You can even listen to music from it while your playing games.  And its quite simple to use.

Do not use tversity, it's crap.
