Recently, Joystiq caught up with Evan Wells, co-president of Naughty Dog. The topic of discussion was mostly Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, however talks turned to Jak & Daxter:

''Yeah, it’s hard to say. It’s hard to admit that would be in our past, because we definitely still have a real soft spot in the heart for the franchise. And I, in my fantasy, would love to be able to have the resources to be able to tackle that project. But, right now, Uncharted is sort of the focus of the studio for DLC. Maybe we could go to Jak and Daxter as the next project. Maybe we stick with Uncharted [laughs]. Maybe we come up with a new IP. It’s tricky to be able to tackle all of those at once. Right?''

''We don’t have the resources. So, we’re gonna have to choose our battles. I’m not sure whether Jak and Daxter will win that battle. Like you were saying, though, with trying to find a partner to work with us on the PSP version of Uncharted, I think it would be a shame if there weren’t a Jak and Daxter for the PS3 generation. So, if we can’t find a partner for one of those, then maybe we’re going to have to find a budget ourselves. [laughs]''

Would you like a Jak & Daxter on PS3, even if it’s not developed by Naughty Dog?

They should do Uncharted 3, then a Jak and Daxter, and save the new IP for the Playstation 4.

No, it must be made by Naughty Dog. If Jak goes the way of Spyro, I will be cery, very angry.

They really must have Uncharted 3 ready for 2011 holidays. That means they wouldn't have a Jak and Daxter ready until late 2013, which might be too late for this gen.

So the best option is probably for them to pass the IP to another studio they have good connections with. Maybe Insomniac could handle it as they have the manpower with the new studio in NC and the tech with the R&C engine.

Or Ready at Dawn might be a good idea. They made Daxter and GOW: COO for PSP, and have been working on a game engine for PS3 and PSP.

Nughty Dog Jak or no Jak at all.

Seriously, the VERY first one was the best one. I couldn't play the second one, too horrible.

Third one's no different.

Unless it's like The Precursor Legacy, it'll be terrible.

Jak & Daxter developed by Ready At Down for ps3 would be wonderful!
