I'd like to second Grim Fandago.
Maybe RollerCoaster Tycoon too. It really aged well imo.

This isn't THAT old, but Painkiller and Serious Sam never got beaten. I swear not even Gears of War had less story and more badassery and awesomeness, and I'm aware neither of those are words, to carry the games fully and make them amazing than those two games.
Let me just reiterate my recommendation for The Ultimate Haunted House. This game is so damn obscure that I can't even find any good videos for it. Here's the Wikipedia page. I mean, yeah. You could play some the big classics (like the ones you mentioned). But take it from a guy who just attempted to read A Tale of Two Cities; the classics aren't always the best thing around.

BUY IT!!!
Serious Sam was hilarious. They basically out-Doomed Doom II. Absolutely no attempt at anything resembling a story or anything.
See shit, shoot it. Good stuff.

Painkiller was the same one. Except it also had a gun that shot ninja stars and lightning. But yeah, Serious Sam was absolutely amazing. I was really close to buying the HD rebirth, but new graphics have never been a reason enough for me to buy games.

Hey, A Tale of Two Cities is one of my favorite books. I love Dickens.
I'll see if I can find that game. I don't think I've ever heard of it before.
BTW, I'm adding Dungeon Keeper to my list. I heart that game.

I love Dickens as well, but that was just one boring, confusing mess. I'd read a page, wonder what the hell happened, and then say "IT'S SET DURING THE FRENCH REVOLUTION" (and then move on to the next page). But yeah, few people have ever heard of this game. And don't be like "yeah, that's a nice suggestion" and then remove it from your mind, because I know that's what you're thinking. This is seriously an awesome game. Lots of puzzles and rooms and monsters and fun things to do.
PLAY FALLOUT!!!!! Also play Diablo II. BUT MOSTLY PLAY FALLOUT!!!!
Seriously, it's amazing.
