So now MS is using its NPD figures (which only tracks America) to say its basically 'won' February? I take it MS has basically no concern for the rest of the world, since both the Wii AND PS3 outsold it in total sales for Feb.

There smart though because all their trying to do is make Americans think they are winning overall. It creates a helpful illusion to American consumers who don't get the whole picture. Sights like IGN piss me off in that they only report NDP numbers. It is a shame, it is manipulation.

In terms of strategic importance (obviously not overall sales levels), the US is probably at least 2 times as important as the rest of the world combined.

That is arrogance and I am an American. No its are tendency to act like America is all that exists and anything beyound are borders is trivial.

Also if what you say is true than the ps3 would not be slowly catching up to the 360.

So a green spinning wheel and a spin piece from Microsoft, oh how they go hand in hand like Alice and a yellow brick road.

Europe (outside of Pro-Xbox areas like UK and Scandinavia) is a lost cause anyway. The Xbox brand doesn't gel with Continental Europeans too well. To them, Xbox screams "Americuh Fuck Yeah!" No matter how many European-oriented games are on the Xbox, they won't care unless you can secure FIFA or PES exclusivity (no chance in hell. FIFA wouldn't be pleased if their license was only available on the Xbox brand. They want as much exposure as possible). Think about it. Just think of the name. X (extreme) Box. The name itself screams "Americuh Fuck Yeah!" The Playstation line with it's sleek lifestyle branding look to it and the way it blends in with your home entertainment system (and plays Blu-Ray). That's going to appeal to the average European. The Brits (they had an influence on American culture. So they have some similarity with America) and scandinavians (more PC gaming-oriented) are different from say the French or the Germans.

Unless Microsoft lowers their Elite model price below that of the Playstation (it doesnt have Blu-Ray among other things so the perception is that the 360 should be cheaper) and offers a sleek sexy slim redesign so that the 360 could look good with your home entertainment center, Europe is a lost cause not worth concentrating on too much.

Well done MS, as long as it continues to dominate US & UK, it will definitely continue to grow stronger & stronger, and if Natal is an insane success, the Wii & PS3 will have no chance, since they both have almost the same motion controllers now!

yes America is the only important region for me. as long as it does well here ms wont abandon this region.

It was a nice month, and I think 360's performance in 2010 is going to be more consistent than in the past!

I really don't like these "press releases" I wish Microsoft put some more immagination into it ...

This is great news, and i'm looking forward to more records set this year for the X360, and Microsoft.

Still baffles me, even after NPD results have been posted. VGC still has Wii selling more than 360 in Feb by 160,000. IOI?

It looks as though 360 is undertracked by 65,000 on FEB US figures. Compared to NPD

While I think NPD covers Canada, I'm pretty sure it doesn't cover Mexico...so maybe. that's the delta.
