It would be interesting to compare the data with the ps3. I think a lot of people work harder for a Platinum rather than points. Achievements and Trophies have the same goal sets so it would be the same difficulty.

Platinum trophies are nothing more than bonus trophies for unlocking 100% in a game.
Regardless of whether they mean anything, there still isn't any physical benefit for doing this in games. They help players level up faster, but given that the leveling process on PSN with trophies is about as arbitrary as the total point score on XBL, whether a player is level 1 or level 15 makes no difference. No bonus areas in Home, no bonus items through PSN, etc.
Getting 100% takes too damn long on most games.
As a side note, Fable 3 will use GamerScore in some regard with your weaponry. I think that is awesome and they should use it more in games. It would give people incentives to earn more gamerscore. Which in turn, might sell more software.

That's cool, but it's not like anyone is going to specifically try to boost their gamer score playing a bunch of other games (including renting clunker games aimed at the children's audience for easy points) just for the weaponry bonus in Fable 3.
Or maybe there will be a few OCDs with too much time on their hands who will.
There should be more tangible benefits for achieving a gamerscore, but since it's not required, the score itself is its own motivation.
hard achievements are not an issue, as Barozi said it's the time consuming ones that should change.

Sure, Fable 3 by itself will not get people to hunt achievements to a larger degree, but if it becomes a trend, it probably would. Especially if it was something platform wide, like using the gamerscore to unlock avatar props and such. Kind of like Halo Waypoint.
| elticker said: Too time consuming to get them all. I would say i almsot have all the achievements on every halo game cause thats almost all i paly. Halo 3 odst 905. halo 3 1710 and halo wars 1150. need 50 on halo wars 95 on odst and 40 on halo 3 thats good enough for me and fable 2 is 1350/1350 cause single player achievemnts are much eisier than multiplayer and i like to explore everything. |
Halo 3 (1750/1750) Halo 3 ODST (1000/1000) Halo Wars (1150/1200) here. General achievement sucks lol.
Oh and Fable III (1350/1350) I picked up the GOY edition not long ago and got the final 350.
Wonder if someone has like 50% of the Avatar Achievements? It takes about a minute and a half to get 1000.

They don't need to make them any easier....life is unfair and those hard ones should be of skill and those really long ones show who's willing to commit the time. Geek? yes, but it still makes those who strive for achievements and trophies that get a really hard one filled with a few minutes of joy and bragging rights.
Example 1
Max "so john.....I just got a 30 kill steak in Game X and got the platinum/all the achievment points"
John "Dude that's awesome! that ones bloody hard to get"
Example 2
Max " so john.....I just got a 5 kill steak in Game X and got the platinum/all the achievment points"
John "Yeah i did few days ago....so did bill, jill, and jacob....was pretty easy"
CURRENTLY PLAYING: Warframe, Witcher 2
