Microsoft Rumored to Be Closing in on a Hulu Deal for Xbox 360
It looks like owners of the Xbox 360 will soon be able to do what so many others have struggled to do. According to a source close to Microsoft's Entertainment and Devices Division, the house that Seamus [Blackley] built is looking to add Hulu to the Xbox 360 via a channel similar to last.fm.
This isn't the first time we've hear murmurs about Hulu coming to the Xbox 360. In fact the original talk was about IPTV way back in 2006. That of course seems to have gone the way of the Dodo, at least in the traditional IPTV sense.
Gamers in the UK have of course been blessed with the Sky TV on demand service on their Xbox 360s. And our source states that the popularity of Sky Player is a major factor in Microsoft's attempt to get Hulu. Reportedly the only thing holding up the project is Hulu, who are trying to sweeten the deal for themselves. Now since Microsoft should be able to meet the online broadcaster's demands financially, it could be just a matter of time before we hear something official. However she did say that we could hear something official within a couple weeks.
In the mean time, we'll just wait and see and of course keep our fingers crossed. But since we've heard this before, we're not deleting our PC to 360 streaming software yet.
A good compliment to Netflix as this would allow me to view recently aired tv along with whatever is already out on dvd.
Now bring on the comments about how the 360 needs a web browser.
