Microsoft Rumored to Be Closing in on a Hulu Deal for Xbox 360

It looks like owners of the Xbox 360 will soon be able to do what so many others have struggled to do. According to a source close to Microsoft's Entertainment and Devices Division, the house that Seamus [Blackley] built is looking to add Hulu to the Xbox 360 via a channel similar to last.fm.

This isn't the first time we've hear murmurs about Hulu coming to the Xbox 360. In fact the original talk was about IPTV way back in 2006. That of course seems to have gone the way of the Dodo, at least in the traditional IPTV sense.

Gamers in the UK have of course been blessed with the Sky TV on demand service on their Xbox 360s. And our source states that the popularity of Sky Player is a major factor in Microsoft's attempt to get Hulu. Reportedly the only thing holding up the project is Hulu, who are trying to sweeten the deal for themselves. Now since Microsoft should be able to meet the online broadcaster's demands financially, it could be just a matter of time before we hear something official. However she did say that we could hear something official within a couple weeks.

In the mean time, we'll just wait and see and of course keep our fingers crossed. But since we've heard this before, we're not deleting our PC to 360 streaming software yet.

A good compliment to Netflix as this would allow me to view recently aired tv along with whatever is already out on dvd.

Now bring on the comments about how the 360 needs a web browser.

wow this would be a VERY welcome addition!!!! Please MS make this happen I want Hulu on my 360!!!

I hope this come true!

And I inch closer and closer to letting cable go ...

Wow, I would very likely drop cable if this was the case. I feel like between netflix streaming old series and hulu streaming... seemingly everything recent, this would be a big hit to their Zune marketplace offering. I mean, great for consumers, and a console selling-point to be sure, however.

Stop stealing our images!

But yeah, sounds good for people in the United States. My hate of you is borne out of extreme jealousy.

Do you know what its like to live on the far side of Uranus?

You can already do this on the PS3, Wii and 360 if you're so inclined. Playon streams to all three and costs less then a few months of live. It also includes sites like CBS and the like that aren't on Hulu. You can also do it through the browser on consoles that have one.

Still though this would have mattered more when Hulu was cool 2 or so years ago. I miss when you could just watch any one of 50 episodes of shows like its always sunny in Philadelphia before they made it this lame sometimes delayed 1-3 episodes only service. The last show I watched on there regularly, the daily show, just left.

It is still very possible to go PS3 or 360 only with no cable, it just requires a bit more....creativity these days to find the shows Netflix forgot to stream through other means.

PSN ID: ChosenOne feel free to add me

I would absolutely love if Hulu came to the 360.  Maybe this will be part of the leaked dashboard upgrade.
