The problem is you're using logic and common sense which will be only ignored by many on here.
You'd be better off saying something like "they should just press the magic Make More PS3s Button" or "they're deliberately witholding stock in warehouses to create artificial increased demand."
Or maybe SCE will continue to ship/sell as many hardware units as they have available and continue to produce them in numbers based upon their forward projections. They're currently selling at greater rates than ever in the product life cycle, making it harder to project without overshooting demand. It took Nintendo the better part of three years to get this right.
