I do a pretty traditional Korean Tae Kwon Do. My main qualm with MMA is that I've had it just absolutely pounded into my head, over and over that we never use martial arts to attack someone. Martial arts are for self-defense and for health, not beating the crap out of someone. It goes against what I have been taught about martial arts.

So you do pretty areobic excercise with selfrightous psyshological mumbo jumbo talked over you agian and agian.

Well i feel sorry for you, what you have been tough is lies since all MAs history is blood soaked and full of death.   They were and still are arts of war.

Hilarious part is TKD is useless as self defence, its teaches no defence at all.  Please go take a real self-defence class if that is what you were going for when you got doped into TKD.

I'm not going to continue to discuss this with you since you seem to be unable to converse with any kind of respect.

Its common sense.

You would not go Basketball VS English Premier League now would you ?

Especially when you are trying to comparing two world wide sports yet confining one to a promotion that runs 99% of its activities in NA only.

Yeah but Oldschoolfool is right, most people will know what UFC is but not everyone will know what MMA is/stands for. Even though you're right UFC is a brand its clearly the brand which is most popular in MMA. Kind of like how people say Kleenex and you know they're talking about tissues, or if they say jacuzzi you know they're talking about hot tubs, etc.

No they dont.

Maybe NA do but Europeans, Asians and South Aericans call it mma.

So be honest and say Americas call it UFC cause they dont know any better, and if you accept mass ignorance of the sport be honest about it.  Don't force the same ignorance on the whole world.

And alot of European countries refer to football as just football and not Association Football like it really is,  and then they also think its the only type of football there is.   So take your ignorance speech elsewhere, as it doesnt only reside in America as you would have people think

Okay whatever. I clearly don't live in Europe, Asia or South "Aerica" so I don't know if they call it UFC or MMA. I can only speak from a North American's perspective and probably 99% of us call it UFC, not MMA.

I have no problem with you letting me know it's referred to as MMA, not UFC outside of North America, but save your "ignorance" speech for someone who cares.

I prefer MMA. Boxing is just too boring for me (personally) compared to MMA. Thats not to say that all boxing is boring, or all MMA exciting, but in general, when I turn Spike on, I see something far more interesting than what I'd see on a channel showing boxing.

Why I love MMA:

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Tear PrideFC, how i miss thee.

God damn i miss Pride, mma has not been the same with out it.

Damn, hard to watch these. Nogueira has taken WAY too much punishment over the years and even the 2nd greatest hw ever needs to call time.

Ynwa.

Boxing is a little more legitimate because it's bound by rules, MMA is the next step towards "The Running Man" becoming a reality, and is another sign (along with reality TV) of people's degrading standards in entertainment. I am a martial artist too, in case anyone is wondering and a huge fan of martial arts in general.

I just got the Fist of Legend 1&2 on Netflix

*EDIT* On topic: I don't care too much for either, but boxing really isn't what it used to be and mixed martial arts is ok until it turns into a groping match ("I've got your balls tap out!!").

I am the Playstation Avenger.
