Of course competition is a good thing, even if people think that Sony and Nintendo would do nothing but hand out candy and kittens if they had a monopoly, reality has other things to say about that.

The problem with the gamers and the disrespect to one another, that has as much or more to do with the proliferation of sites like this very one. The anonymity factor of the internet gives people carte blanche to say exactly what is on their mind, sans filter that they would usually use were they to be talking to someone in person. It just escalates from there and gets completely out of hand. That is a terrible problem that each person has to deal with, especially if they are passionate about something. Go to an American political website if you want to see real rancor sometimes. *shudders*

^^ the influecnces of media today do have a grave impact on our decisions. no matter where we turn we see it, we cant live without it.
