I then decided to do more than just 10/10, thinking it would be useful to have an 11/10 for games I really like, and the mythical Over 9000 for the perfect game that has massive universal appeal. It would arguably be a Wyld Stallyns (Bill and Ted's movies) of videogames and radically change the world, so it doesn't exist. Anyhow, as I have slept on this, I thought MAYBE the site, rather than just be a satire shot at rating systems, and obsessed game fanboys, would also possible offer a bit of usefulness in that it add a bit more granularity. I was thinking that maybe between 10 and 11 there were decimals, so a game would get a 10.8/10 rating for example. We would have room, for example, for people to argue that Final Fantasy XIII should be a 10.8/10 rather than a 10.5/10. I would also look to keep the 10/10 for games that don't quanitfy as having a rating, or maybe are REALLY bad. If you look at the really bad angle, 10/10 = 1, so a 10/10 rating would end up being a 1.
I would still keep the positive only, but add this. I am also thinking if the site ended up getting a following and people trusted it, Goes to 11 would end up actually slipping into Metacritic, and really mess things up there.
Anyone else have any thought on this? I may end up also adding things slightly before "Over 9000" for rating mythical games for their sheer almost awesomeness.
I believe if Goes to 11 ends up actually doing this (the 10 through 11), I will want the reviews to actually be of games played that people really like.
