Forums - PC - Assassin's Creed 2 Cracked in less than 24 hours.

I bought a used copy of AC2 today for my PS3.
I was really looking foward to play the PC version but.... you know, Ubisoft made the PC version less appealing by PURPOSE!

Wait for the ps4, xbox720 and wii2. I look for the same thing they are trying on the pc to be standard in the next-gen cycle of consoles. You will have to have an internet connection, games will be permatly locked to the console itself or a user account and you will not be able to trade them in. That is when they will finailly kill the used game market.

why is this is a good thing again?

Do you want non multiplayer games that you have to have an good internet connection to play? Or games that you can't trade in because the disc is locked to one account. What happens in a few years when ubisoft puts a end to the servers for the game? Now you can still buy the game, apply the crack and not have anything to do with ubisoft servers or their shitty drm. But really i hope everyone boycotts the game because of the drm. The only sad thing about that is ubisoft will claim the game didn't sell because of piracy, not because of a boycott.

i would rather that and my beloved industry to make money, then them not do anything about it and let pirates get away with everything they do. boycott them? no no, they should boycott pirates

But this has nothing to do with piracy. The game was cracked within 24 hours, ubisoft and all game studios know that this will happen. The pirates will still get the game for free, the only people it affects are the one who bought the game. Now they are stuck with bad drm so ubisoft can try to kill the used game market.

bad move from ubisoft, seriously. the whole DRM thing is a giant waving red flag with  the message "crack me" written in it.

Nintendo is a constant in life. Nintendo is the place where you can always go to have a great time, whether that is alone or together with friends. Nintendo made dozens of all time classics which are more than just amazing games. Nintendo is a gaming company. Nintendo raised our sorry asses better than a parent ever could. Nintendo is a religion. Nintendo is what drove gaming forward and what continues to drive gaming forward. Nintendo saved gaming in the '80s. Nintendo is saving gaming again right now.

It isn't actually cracked yet though, as far as I can surmise. Sure, Silent Hunter 5 is cracked, so the DRM is actually cracked, but Assassins Creed 2 isn't, as of yet. Properly, anyway. Sure it isn't that far off now.

meh, give VGaming about 20 years and DRM will cease to exist. I say this because what follows in incredible insight from a nobody :P

All games on all consoles will be online. All games even single player will have some of the logic come from remote servers. All games will have online elements. Online gaming will be everywhere . Offline games will be considered antiques. Why this isn't DRM? in another form. Simple because there will features to all games that will be standard that can be only provided by being online. Like talking to other gamers online. Similar to Live in concept. Thre will be things like Dynamic Weather, game play update, new Achievements. There will also be other different elements like in game access to Daily scheduler, TV Show times, essentially non game related material. Ok ok, 20 years might be a bit soon, but it will be standard. Not only that when the time comes it will have been so gradual no one will have noticed. Much like no one really noticing the Console become PC with HDD and game patches. That were vehemently spoken against years before it happened and how NO ONE would ever by a Console that was more like a PC. Oh how times change when the product itself comes out.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

Developers should get the message. DRM is a complete waste of time and it actually decreases the sales of games. DRM only decreases second hand sales because of the activation codes. Piracy rates of the game with DRM increases.

Still hasn't been cracked.
