Why do gamers think that buying used is really "punishment" for game companies? (though if you don't have a modded 360 nor a PC capable of running MW2, that's probably the closest thing to punishment I guess if you absolutely must play the game. Even renting won't work because I think Blockbuster, Gamefly, etc. pay royalties to the publisher for every rental no?) By buying used, you are still indirectly supporting Activision. What do gamers usually do after trading in games? Use the money or store credit to buy new games. What do gamers usually do after selling games on ebay? Use the money to fund purchases of new games. You are still supporting the industry by buying used. Just not as much as if you buy it new from retail.
Maybe if you pirate Activision games and promote piracy of Activision games, that'll work. I think it worked with Spore right? Even if you don't own a gaming rig or a modded 360 (or a 360 at all), pirate the games anyway.
Me personally though, I wouldn't prevent myself from playing the games I want to play just to teach a game company a lesson. Because quite frankly, they are pretty much all scum. Let's be honest here. How many corporations out there truly believe in putting the interests of their customers, employees and community over their shareholders? The #1 priority of corporations is to deliver a profit to their shareholders. Executives that fail to do so get canned. Even Valve is no angel (despite the fact that they are one of the more decent ones). Steam is largely great but you can't resell "your" games. And it's not like resale is impossible with digital distribution. eLicense allows it (eLicense is a crock of shit for other reasons but that's a topic for another day). But you have to be careful about trading/selling serial keys because that's a very good way of getting scammed. You have to really trust the person you do business with.
