Commuters in London woke up to the front page headline ‘Millions Hit By PS3 Meltdown’ today.

The London edition of Metro, a free daily newspaper with a circulation of around 750,000, decided that the bug that crashed millions of PS3 consoles was the most important story in the world this morning.

The story was also covered by most of the UK national newspapers and was a prominent article on the BBC website.

The widespread coverage shows just how important the global games market has become and, along with events such as the launch of Modern Warfare 2, shows that games have the potential to elbow out more ‘traditional’ news stories to grab the headlines.

Cool! Dang that sucks at the same time...can't believe that happened...but we now know what the cause of the problem is....

Slow news day?

that is some snail news...

It was actually a big new story yesterday however they were still telling people the bug was still going on and not to turn on there ps3's.

Guys my mates PS3 was affected. He lost saves as well. He has been told to send his into Sony. And that he wont be able to have his saves back or trophies, because he never had it online. Apparantly they are sending some free stuff. I'm reading alot in the news about non online PS3 players basically screwed. Is this right?

This is why I asked. But even if the date thing fixes, his saves and trophies are gone forever no?

the news actually went through part of my company, and got mocked (we are a electronics research firm, so no surprise someone ran across it)

If he's never gone online, he has no PSN account, so whatever trophies he has are worthless anyway.
