Forums - PC - Steam And Valve Games Coming To MAC!!!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that any game from a big name worked on both Macs and Windows with a single bought CD. That said, why is this such an amazing news to everyone, it's the standard, I would have been very surprised and disappointed if that weren't the case.

Very few games work on Mac OS. And only a select few of those work from the same CD/DVD. You can of course emulate windows on MAC and run the games from there, but that doesn't count.

Well I guess it's just the big companies who do it. But there are very few non indie games that I can think of that don't do this. I can stick my way way old Starcraft CD into my friend's Mac and it will run.

Only blizzard does it, really. So Diablo, Starcraft, Warcraft and World of Warcraft will work that way but almost no other big games you can think of. They are the exception, not the rule.

Check out the EA games for MAC: http://eastore.ea.com/store/eaemea/sv_SE/DisplayCategoryProductListPage/ThemeID.850300&categoryID=33266100&childCategoryID=33266100

There's a whopping 4 of them!

I was not arguing there are games for Macs, but I was under the impressin that if thye existed you needed one copy for either platform. Maybe because my friend would get the windows, if he needed it on Mac he'd just download the game and use his Windows key. I just know he had one copy of a game for either of his PC and laptop.
