I like your feature list, but i have a few comments.

First, No more giant discs that take forever to load, there cant be a disc drive in the next portable, the old psp already looks like its from the 80,s.

- They could and should release an attachment for the system that allows umd's to be copied to the hard drive of the psp.

why no umd drive? The size needs to be small. This thing needs to comfortably fit into your pocket like a phone would, so making it shaped like a ps controller is also out, if that is something your into, then they make attachments now that suffice.

So overall features imo would include 2 cameras, one on inside of device that can take video and connect to the internet for video chat. gmail, ichat already do this... phones will soon too.

has to have 3G/4G connection, if it costs per month, then it should be wayyyyy less than phone bills. because this will not be a phone. (lets say $10 a month)

But it will sell like hotcakes if they add the 2 cameras, and allow skype, gchat to stream, this would be huge..

moving on it would have tactile buttons on a slider, much like the psp go
2 analogs, a touch screen,motion sensors, and a good hard drive.

Trophy integration, in game voice chat, an emphasis on online portable play would also be key.

it may seem like a lot, but in order to compete in this market going forward, I think Sony needs to have the tech of modern smart phones in order for the system to sell.

they could launch at $300 with a lineup of something like: The Agent- psp, all of the PSN and PS2 games available for Download.

Well ok... they probably flopped because nobody could care about the system. Yes, I don't like that much PSP as I only own Nintendo consoles, but you must admit its library suffers of a great lack of content. That was the exact problem with the Wii. The only problem is that now, the Wii is catching up with a really great 2010 year while the PSP doesn't bring more than 2 big games, Kingdom Hearts (which hasn't gotten any relocalization) and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. The DS, on the other side, will get Golden Sun, Pokemon Heart Gold/Soul Silver, Warioware DIY, Picross 3D and the Classic Book Collection. And the system is way weaker than the PSP.

Well, if people pirate it, there must be something wrong, because Sony is pretty good against piracy.

In conclusion, you hate PSP haters, but you don't give it a damn. Well, I do hate the PSP, because I'm a loyalist and don't love to see the DS teased by the PSP. HOWEVER, I do recognize there are some (very few) treasures, like GoW and GTA (although it's multiplatform). The PSP is a big flop (with the PSPgo) compared to the DSi XL which is only a bigger DSi system, as Sony tried to shrink its own system. I just hope they catch up with the PSP2, 'cause when Apple will get into the competition, it is going to be hard. 50 million PSP. 75 million Ipod. 125 million DS.

With those features it will F. A. I. L.

It needs touchscreen, motion sensors, camera and mic (that will become standart thanks to the DSi) and some nice software, not 360 ports.

FF: AGITO! that game looks awesome so far

I'd buy that thing so fast!!! Then I could play Final Fantasy Agito XIII on it too, but the DD only kinda kills it for me, I HATE waiting for downloads!

The next gen handhelds have to have it. It just makes sense.

After PSN store started adding PsP games and so many amazing Ps1 classics I regret buying a PsP3000 instead of a GO. Final Fantasy 8 is 2 gigs and my memory card is 2 gigs :(. Im in favor of DD only for handhelds now even though I hated the idea a year ago.

PSP has so many great games and great RPGS I had to buy a PSP and a DS to play all of them. PSP gets more game time though. FF Crisis Core, Jeanne D Arc, Disagea, Persona, Grand Theft Autos, Ratchet, Jak, Tekken, Monster Hunter, Grand Theft Auto. Theres so many good games but a lot of them are not advertised well and don't get attention they deserve. PSP does suffer from some games just being PS3 or Wii ports downgraded, but not all.

Its not so much that the psp sucks , its just that the DS is too great giving the illusion that the psp sucks.

The haters' "hate" though is well placed though , the psp didnt live to its full potential and just resorted to piggybacking on franchises made popular on consoles just to get by , making each and every game feel gimped.

And just to play the devils advocate , I would love to hear about some of these amazing new ip's your talking about.
