You know, it would be really easy for The Show to completely whoop the MLB 2K series. The problem? It's Sony exclusive. If MLB 2K is losing sales, it's all of because its own declining quality.

eh, sony funds the development... actually, it's a great idea for sony to have an exclusive sports game. if 2k finally gives up, sony will find itself with all the baseball fans hungry for a baseball game. i think that's the point of making the show exclusive. the baseball fan population is pretty sizeable.

Yeah, but unless you haven't noticed, MLB 2K sells more, year after year (mainly due to it being multiplatform). I'd say that MLB 2K on Sony platforms is pretty much doomed every time, but one series on one platform isn't going to destroy a series that has a history of being multiplatform. Only MLB 2K can destroy itself, and it's the only one that has destroyed itself.

Not only multiplatform, but that it's the only baseball game on the platform that's almost 2x bigger.

PSN: chenguo4
Current playing: No More Heroes

I hope they give up and just start punishing power pros again.

I understand not publishing it because of the recession, but to not publish it... then make an entire new game in Baseball Blast? The hell... you could of just translated power pros and marketed it as a kids game.

This.

I bought the show today. Its my first MLB game since MLB 2K8. 2K9 sucked and Mlb 09 The Show was greeat, but never bought it. This year i HAD to get a baseball game. So i went with the show.

It sucks that such a great baseball game is only on Playstation when Microsioft and Nintendo are missing out. Thats like FIFA being on one console or Madden. 2K needs to step their game up, lol

True...

But I still can't believe how badly 2K NHL got screwed up. NHL 2K2-2K5 smoked EAs NHL.

Then:

Now:

http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/nhl10?q=nhl

http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/ps3/majorleaguebaseball2k10

so far, mlb 2k10 has two reviews, one 78 and one 70

http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/ps3/mlb10theshow

and mlb 10 the show has three reviews, one 95, one 93, and one 90.

obviously, 2k still sucks far far worse than the show.

More and more people are not buying the Show instead of MLB 2K series. Baseball videogames as a whole are declining in sales.

MLB 06 sales:

PS2: .75M
PSP: .33M

MLB 07 sales:

PS3: .27M
PS2: .76M
PSP: .28M

Total: 1.31M

MLB 08 sales:

PS3: .64M
PS2: .35M
PSP: .33M

Total: 1.32M

MLB 09 sales:

PS3: .59M
PS2: .16M
PSP: .24M

Total: .99M

This goes along with the MLB 2K series also declining in sales, along with The Bigs 2 selling less than the original, and along with the cancellation of MLB Power Pros. It's baseball itself that is becoming unpopular in videogame form. The Show hasn't had any real growth as a series since the original, regardless of it's quality climbing, and regardless of the last installment having a very healthy advertising budget on sports networks like ESPN and male oriented channels like SPIKE. It's either been stagnant or declined in sales on all of it's three platforms since MLB 06: The Show.
