Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Capcom interview on Gamasutra (TVC sales, MHT promotion, etc).

Here it is, Capcom's Christian Svensson being grilled by the dreamy Brandon Sheffield.

Some choice quotes...

There were a whole bunch of questions like, "Will fighting fans really support something on the Wii?" And, you know, we're a couple weeks in right now, and we've been doing re-orders. We're not at all dissatisfied with the sales at this point. We are cautiously optimistic that it's going to have long legs...

The Versus series is well served by Tatsunoko as an outing. It really happens bring Versus back as a viable brand for Capcom. So, in that regard...

Dark Void Zero was great . And being candid, Other Ocean came to us and said, "Hey, we have an idea." We embraced it and thought it was really clever, and the production team really got behind it and helped push it. Other Ocean did a great job in creating a retro 8-bit-like experience, and the other part of this is we wanted to get some experience on DSiWare in particular because that's our first DSiWare title. And it's selling, just for the record, very, very well. We're actually really pleased. In some ways, it's actually exceeding my expectations as to how it did, so we'll actually be looking at some other opportunities. I'm not saying necessarily 8-bit focused, not even necessarily DSiWare-focused, but there's some gained from learning that we take from Dark Void Zero and from Other Ocean in particular that turned out great. I can't say enough good things about Other Ocean. They've been a joy to work with. So, loads of respect to those guys.

The other part of this is a massive marketing push, the likes of which I'm not sure anyone has seen on a Wii title from a third party, that we'll be seeing across the West when it ships. So, big marketing push. Online play.

So, we've got high hopes for this. We really want to capture a more active Wii demographic. And the Wii is still -- in homes that own multiple consoles, the Wii is always there. There's no reason why these people shouldn't and couldn't be picking up Monster Hunter Tri to play.

All you Nintendo fans lamenting quality 3rd party games go out and do your part... buy TVC & MH3!

I ponder about that..........some "hardcore" fans complain about a game doing terrible when they haven't even bought it themselves.

"The Common Cold Isn't So Common During The Cold"

Why buy a down sized fighting game of Brawl? Why buy monster hunter 3 if. Ok I'll buy that one Anyway I hope TvC becomes the best selling of close to the best selling vs game

Heresy!  TVC is quite literally the best fighter on Wii.  Better than Brawl!

I'm surprised about Dark Void Zero, sounds like it's been a bigger success than the main game.  I wish someone would ask Capcom about their WiiWare games, I'm curious how MM9 and the Phoenix Wright ports are faring compared to other platforms...

Sven does not sound to sure of himself here. The sales obviously haven't met expectations just yet, so you have to hope the game just doesn't fall off the face of the earth. I think, when it eventually hits that $25-$30 price point, sales will be fair each week. With sales of the previous TvC included, it will make it past 500k...one full year after release.
Heck, I'll make it 550k lol

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

good to see tvc is doing well

.. and that they are happy

Prordered MHT. Waiting for my birthday to get TvC.

I thought TvC had a fairly strong opening for what it was, but legs is definitely the defining factor there.

I have faith that Nintendo's advertising prowess can sell Monster Hunter 3

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Tatsunoko vs. Capcom is way much better than Brawl.
